We had such a great family stay! Not many lodges can fit 8 people comfortably. If they ever offer a bigger one, we’d definitely come back again for sure.

The lodge offered great value for the price, no doubt. Only thing we missed was some kind of air con or cooling system because it got really warm inside during the hot, muggy days-even with all the windows open, it was still quite stuffy!

We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it’s one of the most comfortable places we’ve been to. Plenty of space, well-equipped and that enclosed veranda with the table and chairs was perfect for outdoor meals. The dishwasher and washing machine were a real plus. Beds were super comfy and the linen was soft and clean. Those two big bathrooms with waterfall showers? Absolute luxury! Definitely a very cosy lodge.

Overall, we had a lovely stay. The lodge was well-equipped, spacious and the natural light was fantastic with lots of windows to open up. Shame the twin beds couldn’t be joined, but still, a great experience!

We really enjoyed our stay, even though the leisure centre and restaurant weren’t open, which was a bit disappointing. The takeaway was fantastic - generous portions and great value. The lodge itself was super comfy. All in all, a nice break and we’re already thinking about coming back soon!

While we enjoyed our stay overall, the hot tub setup was a bit awkward. The lodge’s position made us feel quite exposed, especially when getting in and out. Not many lodges had hot tubs, so we couldn’t help but notice the lack of privacy. Still, it was nice!

We had a lovely weekend away! The lodge was spot on for what we wanted, super tidy and the furniture was really nice quality. Only tiny gripe - the frying pan could do with a new one. Still, overall, a great stay!

The lodge's location is handy, just a short drive to Lyme Regis, which is great. It’s really clean and modern, but sadly, number 35 doesn’t get any sun on the patio. Films are limited unless you pay extra. Still, we enjoyed our stay!

We've been visiting Hawkchurch quite a few times over the years and always enjoy our stay. This trip, the only downside was the lodge - it was pretty noisy. The floorboards creaked in multiple spots, the fridge freezer was loud and one of the beds made an annoying squeak. We’re definitely coming back, but next time, we’ll request a different lodge for sure. Still a lovely place!

Overall, we’ve enjoyed our stays at Darwin Escapes. The lodges are modern and comfortable, though a few spots could be cleaner. Still, it’s a decent place for a relaxing break!

Wonderful relaxing holiday, lodge very clean well equipped and the view was amazing, will definitely visit again ?

We had a really lovely time at Hawkchurch. The views from our lodge were awesome and the location - although quite remote - is good for visiting places like Lyme Regis (15-20 minute drive) Seaton (20 minute drive) and Sidmouth (30 minute drive). Our lodge - a Hardy lodge - was well equipped and clean. I used the spa pool once - it is small, but nice for a little escape and ‘me’ time for an hour. The restaurant was good with good food, although I think they were perhaps a little short staffed when we visited meaning service was a little slow. Still, though, would recommend. We hope to return!
Debbie
Great holiday, I liked that the site was quite after day of exploring local beaches and towns. Staff couldn't do enough. Reception staff gave a amazing welcome and first impression.

Thoroughly enjoyed the week

10 out of 10 all the way. Receptionist called me to say the lodge was ready before 4pm, which would have been handy to know if we had arrived early and were killing time. When we did arrive we were greeted by friendly staff, check in was straight forward. The lodge was really spacious, a home from home. Well actually better than my home ?. Very comfortable super king sized bed. Every where was very clean, smelt clean and fresh when we walked in. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, including a wine cooler, very important! On site facilities were excellent, small shop next to reception for necessities and a few luxuries and gifts. We ate in the restaurant the day we arrived, staff very friendly and efficient, food lovely and well priced. They had a Wurzells tribute act on in the evening which was good fun. Didn't use the gym or spa, prices were about average for treatments. The hydro-therapy pool, sauna and steam rooms were excellent though. The site itself was very well maintained, staff always busy doing something.

Our check in time should have been 4pm on our arrival. I received a call on Sunday evening to say that our lodge would be available from 12pm if we wanted to arrive earlier. We had planned on arriving early anyway on the off chance it would be available earlier so this was good to know that it was confirmed. I chose this resort as I had been to a previous Darwin Escapes resort in Cornwall and I was very impressed with that site. This site was exactly the same.
On arrival we went to reception and was greeted by a friendly member of staff. She gave us a map and showed us where we were located on the site.
The lodge was open and our keys were on the side. Again in a little metal suitcase which you get to keep. Another nice touch that is consistent across their sites.
The lodge was spotlessly clean. The tea, coffee, milk, cleaning items and toiletries provided are great to keep you going until you go to the local shops.
Inside the lodge was huge for the two of us. We stayed in a Hardy Lodge (pet free) no. 73. It was at the bottom of the site and overlooked trees and fields. I though it was in a great position. There was a room with a king-size bed and a huge ensuite with double walk in shower. There was also a twin room and a separate bathroom with a bath and a shower. Both bedrooms had TV's on the wall, and the main also had a alarm clock with Bluetooth speaker.
The decking to the rear of the lodge had a table with 4 chairs. Great for sitting out to eat or just chill.
The only negative is the flooring within the lodge. I had seen some reviews where people had mentioned the squeaky floorboards. I didn't think this would be a problem but the whole lodge squeaked where ever you walked. This was quite loud as well so trying to go to the toilet in the middle of the night quietly was a no go as this echoed throughout the lodge. Probably wouldn't put me off going again but this is definitely something that needs to be looked at.
We didn't use any of the facilities as we spent most of our time out in the neighbouring areas. Lyme Regis is a short drive away with a nice beach. Seaton is also not far away either. If you are driving to Seaton and want to park on the beachfront remember to have some cash with you for parking as they do not accept card payments. A little further out is Sidmouth which is also a nice little seaside town.
If you plan to spend a lot of time on the site and you have children then this site is probably not for you as there are no facilities for them. This is more for adults looking for a nice relaxing break. If you only want to use it as a base to explore the area in great accommodation, then this is perfect. Would I go back - definitely.

We had a fantastic holiday. The resort was amazing and the lodge was spacious and one of the best we have been to. We were sad that we did not book a longer trip.
We will definitely return and book a longer vacation next time.
Ian
Lovely place, very spacious lodge which was spotlessly clean. Plenty of dogs so very dog friendly. Hydro pool was ok but not all the functions were working.
Jodie
Really enjoyed our stay at Hawkchurch Resort. The lodge was gorgeous and felt like a home from home.
The site was very calm and peaceful.
The only thing that would've made it even better was if there was something to entertain the children, even a little play area would have been great.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't great during our stay so it was more difficult to keep the children entertained.
Would highly recommend though!
Sue
Excellent venue, helpful staff and fantastically clean property. It was comfortable and a perfect base for our weekend away.
Jill
The resort was so lovely, well maintained and peaceful. The lodge was better than I anticipated especially being one suitable for dogs. Well equipped, nice touches with the dishwasher tablets, the tin the key was stored in and the soaps etc. The hot tub was a god send- the maintenance guys check on it twice per day.
Definitely recommend Hawkchurch resort for a recharging break. The spa was reasonably priced and worth a visit
Imogen
Overall amazing, everything was just perfect. Would highly recommend. I Will be going back in the future.
Laura
Hawkchurch is a lovely resort. More aimed at adults though as no facilities really for children.
It could do with a games room!
Lovely rural location which was ideal for dog walks and runs.
Spa is lovely and quiet.
