Not impressed

The lodge feels a bit tired and could do with some fixing up, especially the kitchen. There are no lamps, which was a bit of a surprise, but it does have everything you need. Overall, it’s okay if you’re just looking for a place to stay without high expectations.

We had a fantastic stay! The lodge was spotless and well-stocked, the hot tub was pristine and the on-site restaurant served some really tasty food. All the staff were lovely and very helpful too.

We had an amazing stay! The site was spotless and well looked after, really loved how peaceful it was. The lodge was super clean and comfy. The on-site facilities, especially the spa and baths, were a real treat. Kids loved spotting the wildlife and goats around. Thirsk's just a quick drive and the pub nearby was lovely. We’ll definitely be back!

We loved the place! The beds were spotless, towels were there and the kitchen had all the modern gadgets. The outdoor space was huge and the lake view with ducks was lovely. Perfect for a family getaway!

We stayed at this cosy lodge for a couple of nights and loved the modern amenities. There’s plenty of options if you need something bigger. Can’t wait to return, really enjoyed it!

We recently stayed at Woodl and Lake Lodges in the Alder Spa Pet Lodge (No. 63) for a quick two-night break and honestly, it was a bit of a letdown. Initially, the lodge looked okay from the outside, but the hot tub was a real disappointment. When we opened the cover, we found yellow froth floating around, along with black hairs and bits of debris. There were also wine corks and a broken smartwatch strap just lying at the edge. Despite trying to clean it ourselves, the froth kept coming back as soon as we turned the jets on, which was pretty frustrating. We showed the staff photos the next day, but nothing much was done-they just said it would be wiped down. Even after that, the hot tub remained unusable. Inside, the decor felt very outdated; the sofa was stained and worn and the main bedroom mattress had some pretty obvious stains. We also found out only after booking that there was no WiFi or Freeview, which was a shame - especially since mobile signal in the area is pretty weak, so we couldn’t even use a hotspot. It felt a bit misleading not to be told beforehand. We also paid extra for our dog, but honestly, staying in a ‘pet-friendly’ lodge seemed to mean accepting a lower standard of cleanliness. Given the state of the place, that extra fee didn’t feel justified. Luckily, we didn’t pay too much and it was only for a couple of nights, but I wouldn’t recommend this lodge if you’re after a relaxing and clean getaway. Wish I’d taken more photos to document it all!

We really liked the spaciousness of the lodge, especially having en suite showers in both bedrooms - a real bonus! The kitchen was well-equipped, though we did notice there wasn’t a baking tray, which was a bit of a shame. The veranda with the solid wood table and chairs was perfect for relaxing. Only tiny gripe was some tears in the lounge flooring, but overall, we had a great stay!

Good value overall, but the place needs a bit of a refresh. Lighting and cleanliness could definitely be improved.

We stayed at Ellery Lodge recently and really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was beautifully decorated and spacious enough for four people. Its location on the park with the decking over the water was perfect for relaxing and watching the ducks. The hot tub was a real highlight - nice and warm, great to unwind. The living area with the comfy corner sofa was a bonus. Only tiny thing was the creaky doors, but overall, we had no complaints at all!

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, it was lovely overall. Just a few things to improve: adding some lamps would make it cozier and netting curtains could offer better privacy alongside the main ones. Also, a proper outdoor light near the hot tub and some washing up liquid would be handy. Cheers!

We had a fantastic stay! The lodges were spotless and well-stocked, making everything easy. The surroundings are perfect for walks and the kids loved the swings, soft play and pool. We visit yearly and always look forward to coming back. Truly a lovely escape!

We had a really lovely holiday and would definitely return and recommend to other people. The only thing I would say is for the price you pay a few more basic items could be added to the cabin like washing up liquid, toilet bleach, anti bac spray more toilet roll and a small milk maybe? We don’t drive and had to order the other items in, but if I would have known I would have bought them with me. Also if there was an option of having the towels changed once during the week that would have been really good. However it’s a fab place to stay and we all had a really great time so thanks very much. The staff were friendly helpful and professional at all times and facilities were great!

What a beautiful location. The lodge was brand new and so comfortable and clean. Everything we needed apart from a long handled brush. If you want to keep the lodges in this top top condition you need to help the guests look after them too. It’s hard to sweep a floor with a dust pan and brush! The facilities were good especially the pool being free. Water activities need more equipment though. And ohhh the hot tub how fabulous was that! It made our holiday. All in all fantastic and I will definitely be coming back soon.

Fabulous holiday, loved the lodge, lovely and modern. Only issue was the hottub got a little dirty after on the third day, we told a member of staff but wasn't rectified for us. Mentioned it was because of the extreme heat and it was a brand new hottub so hopefully just a one off. Restaurant was gorgeous and the sports bar is a nice touch. Overall we would return in the future.

Lovely quiet site with good facilities and great staff and services.

We stayed in the dog friendly Aspen Lodge, which had a gated decking area which was great for the dog to have freedom, lodge was very spacious & clean & everything provided, hot tub was a bonus, location is amazing & fishing on site, very friendly staff, highly recommend & will definitely return.

Thoroughly recommend this park, a nice size, clean and tidy. Very handy having a the restaurant and sports bar located next door. Swimming pool, soft play, cafe and mini shop all very useful.

Lovely park with swimming and spa facilities..3rd time at this lodge park and would go again.
