We just got back from a four-night stay at this charming cottage and honestly, we had a wonderful time. The owners are really friendly but not at all intrusive, which was perfect. Our dog loved the big fenced garden and the place had everything we needed - even a BBQ for those relaxed evenings. The hot tub was a real highlight! We’re already planning to come back and have told our friends how great it was. Thanks for a lovely break!

We had a really lovely time staying at this cosy cottage on a working farm, but it’s actually quite private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are super friendly and welcoming. The place itself is huge and well-equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom, which made everything so easy. The bed was incredibly comfy after long walks around the area. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded and nicely furnished. Plus, Thaxted’s got some great places to eat, like The Star and The Maypole. We’d definitely recommend it!

We really enjoyed our stay at this quirky little spot. The furniture inside the carriages was lovely and the beds were super comfy. The bathroom and shower were a decent size, which was a bonus. The kitchen had everything you could need and the underfloor heating was a nice touch. The welcome pack with bread, cheese and wine was a lovely surprise. We’d definitely come back, though it’s a bit pricey for what you get.

The owners really went above and beyond when the storm knocked out the power, which was much appreciated. The place was spotless, warm and well-stocked. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and we enjoyed the hot tub too!

We had a lovely stay! Sharon and Robert really made us feel at home, which was great. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for our dog Archie - he loved it! The location was ideal; loads of nice walks nearby and Thaxted with its pretty streets was a treat to explore. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed. All in all, a fantastic break!

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage. The place is super well looked after and fully equipped, making it feel like a home away from home. The walks right outside were perfect for our doggos and we loved chatting with the friendly host. Meeting Penelope the pig was a real highlight! We’ll definitely return, great value for money. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic weekend here! The place was just what we needed, comfy and relaxing. Our dogs couldn't get enough of the garden and they especially loved the underfloor heating. Luna was wagging her tail so much she hurt it, but she was obviously having a great time. We'll definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommended!

We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners were super friendly but never intrusive, which was perfect. The big fenced garden was great for our dog to run around freely. The place had everything we needed - it was fully equipped. We even enjoyed a BBQ one evening and the hot tub was fantastic! We’re already telling friends about it and would definitely come back. Thanks for a lovely break!

We stayed at this charming little spot and loved how tucked away it was, offering real privacy. The owners were super friendly and always there if we needed anything, but we still felt completely secluded. The hot tub was a great way to unwind after cycling all day. Only thing to mention is the noise from planes overhead, since it’s right under the flight path. It took a couple of hours to get used to, but honestly, it didn’t ruin our stay. We’d definitely come back!

We had a really nice stay here, it’s a charming spot if you're after something a bit unique. The carriage area is spotless and well looked after. Josh, the caretaker, was super friendly and helpful. Only thing missing was a light above the mirror in the double bedroom, but otherwise, great!

We really enjoyed our stay here, plenty to see and do nearby. The train station is just a couple of minutes walk, which was super convenient. The carriage has been beautifully converted and had all the facilities we needed. The only downside was the bathrooms, which unfortunately had a strong, unpleasant smell. We tried everything-air fresheners, opening windows-but it didn’t help much. Still, it didn’t ruin our trip, just wish they could sort that out. Would stay again!

We stayed here for a week in July with our two little dachshunds and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The cottage itself is charming and well-kept and the hot tub was such a treat-especially during the hot weather, as it was cooled down just right. The hosts were genuinely warm and welcoming, which made us feel at home. Watching the planes land near Stansted was quite interesting too, even if it’s on the flight path. Overall, we’d definitely recommend Hide for a relaxing getaway with furry friends!

The refurbished coaches look really sleek and modern, but still have that vintage charm.

Date of stay: 19th September 2024
We stayed at this spot near Dawlish Warren and honestly, it’s pretty handy if you want to be close to the beach. The train noise is noticeable since it runs nearby, but that was clear from the description, so no surprises there. The place itself is comfy and quite spacious-perfect as a base for exploring Devon. Parking is sorted with your own space, which is a bonus. Just a heads up, the seven steps to get in can be a bit slippery if it’s wet outside. Overall, it’s a decent choice, though the train sounds can be a bit disruptive until late at night and early mornings.

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and felt super cosy. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming. Even though it’s on a working farm, it’s surprisingly peaceful-a proper little escape! We loved it.
Paul
Had a great week staff very friendly and helpful. Main railway line is very close with trains passing at 80MPH. If you like trains you will lovely this place. Accommodation was great and very clean.
Rita
Thoroughly enjoyed by all participants , the park was tidy and the caretaker was always helpful and polite, willing to go beyond remit .

We had a fantastic holiday here at the end of April - The accommodation was well planned and comfortable. We didn't expect a basket of essential needs in the kitchen but was very pleased to have them. The beds were comfortable and the decor (curtains etc) very pleasing. The pleasant young man in charge was most helpful and we would love to have another holiday here. It was great to watch the trains passing the windows. and the views. It has taken a long time to leave these comments as I missed the email due to other commitments. We had a slight problem with opening the 'front' door but it didn't interfere with our enjoyment
Heidi
Spent a fabulous week in carriage 5. The accommodation was clean and well laid out, with plenty of space for the 5 of us. We were welcomed with some grocery basics bread, crackers, cheese, bottle of wine. milk, tea and coffee. This was a nice touch. The views of Dawlish Warren were fabulous from the carriage and so easy to access the bus and train, just a short walk away. The walk along the front into Dawlish didn’t disappoint either. Of course the main train line is outside your window but added to the holiday for us. It was quite strange not hearing them on our return back home. Josh the on site caretaker was friendly and helpful. Thelma the cat needs a mention too, she keeps a close eye on what’s going on around the place. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again. ?
Matthew
Excellent location.

This is a quirky place to stay. Everything has been thought out well with a well equipped kitchen with a lovely welcome pack, wonderful shower and comfortable bed. It is well situated with the beach, takeaways, pubs and supermarket all within walking distance. The site is clean and pretty and well cared for - I would highly recommend ?

Lovely holiday place been to Dawlish Warren many times second time staying at Brunel and what a difference been lovingly restored. There is also a laundry room you can use handy if you have small children. Lovely beach, fun fair, crazy golf and go carts all on the large green area that the kids love to run about on. Lots of bars and a few shops in the village but the train station is easy access and you can get anywhere up and down the coast if you want a day out, Torquay, Paignton etc.
Cherilyn
We loved our break! Quirky accommodation trains go by right next to the carriage which I felt added to the unique stay. My children enjoyed playing outside the layout made this safe. Kitchen was very well stocked plenty of equipment. Great lay out of coach my aunt and mum had own loo and bedroom whilst the family were at the other end. Lovely and clean and alot of little touches washing liquid, bread, cleaning spray. Beach short walk, fun fair, shops. Everyone super friendly happy to have a chat and ready to help, lovely family vibe. Carriage 5

Had a fantastic short holiday here. Carriage very well-equipped and spacious. Two bathrooms, plenty of hot water and nice and clean. Great location, with loads on the doorstep. Great to be right next to the railway. Passing trains did wake me a couple of times a night but for me, worth it to be so close to the line and beach. All in all, memorable holiday and great location.
Peter
It is in a great location, close to all the amenities and beach. The carriage was clean and tidy, well stocked and the welcome gifts were a treat.
Linda
Quirky accommodation, literally trackside, at the seaside - what’s not to love! We had a wonderful time.
Jessica
We had a fantastic time. The train was lovely. The surroundings tidy. Our children loved watching trains past the window. We arrived to some bread, crackers, biscuits cheese, milk and wine. We would definitely recommend and would definitely book in the future
