We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it’s just stunning. The scenery around it is breathtaking, perfect for a relaxing girls weekend. We loved sitting by the water with coffee in hand and even took a wild swim in the loch - quite an experience! The hot tub was a real treat after a day of exploring. The decor feels really modern and luxe, especially the bathrooms with those glass ceilings and double sinks. One morning, a seal popped up by the jetty while we were paddling, making it truly magical. We had an amazing time!

We had a lovely stay at this lodge - such a great spot with breathtaking views all around. There’s plenty to explore nearby, but it’s also perfect just to kick back and enjoy some peace and quiet. The hot tub was a real treat, kept spotless daily by friendly staff, which was much appreciated. That said, we did notice the cleanliness could be a bit better inside the lodge - windows and patio doors could do with a wipe and there were cobwebs here and there. We also had to give the fridge a clean when we arrived because of bits of food left in the trays. The decking area can be a bit slippy when wet, so a good clean wouldn’t go amiss. On the plus side, they provided dishwashing liquid, tea towels and dishwasher tablets, which was handy. Overall, a chilled, relaxing break with friendly service.

We really enjoyed the lodge, but some items, like the saucepans, were quite worn out. Be careful when getting out of the combined bath and shower! Quite a lovely stay overall.

We really enjoyed our stay! The hot tub was fantastic after long days and the lodge felt so roomy and cosy. The bathroom was lovely and the deck area was a perfect spot to relax. Only minor issues like the fire not working and a lack of basics like salt, pepper and tea bags. Still, we’d come back!

We had an amazing stay at this place. The location is simply breathtaking, with stunning views over the Loch that you never get tired of. The accommodation itself is spot on-really comfortable, clean and well thought out, especially the bedrooms and bathrooms. The hot tub was a real highlight; we used it several times and star gazing from there was magical! The staff keep the hot tub water super clean, which was reassuring. No Wi-Fi wasn’t an issue for us at all; it actually helped us disconnect. Our only tiny gripe is about the hot tub cover blocking part of the view during use. It’s a bit of a shame because the sides still offer some lovely scenery. But honestly, we’ll definitely be back again soon. Such a lovely spot!

We had an incredible stay! Waking up right beside the Loch was simply breathtaking, honestly couldn't ask for a better location. The lodge itself was lovely and very clean, though we did notice quite a few spiders and webs around, which was a bit of a downer. A thorough clean of those would make it perfect. Still, the view in the evening with a glass of wine was just perfect. Definitely would return, it’s such a special spot. Would just recommend a bit more attention to those pesky webs!

We had such a great weekend here! The place really ticked all the boxes for us and we’re already planning our return. Our dogs adored the underfloor heating and the garden was perfect for them to run around. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it-bless her! Everyone was super happy, pups and humans alike. Definitely recommend!
Oliver
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for us-peaceful and away from the busy crowds. The hot tub was fantastic and the owners were so friendly and unobtrusive. They’ve got it just right!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay! The cottage was spotlessly clean and really well stocked, making it feel like a home away from home. The dog walks right outside were a huge bonus and we loved meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig. The host was super friendly and quick to reply. Definitely coming back!
James
We had a lovely stay at this cottage, tucked away on a working farm but still feeling very private. Robert and Sharon were such warm hosts, making us feel right at home. The place itself is huge, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that ensured good nights’ sleep. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded and nicely furnished. Plenty of walking routes around and Thaxted’s restaurants like The Star and The Maypole are well worth a visit. Definitely recommend!
Emma
We had a really lovely stay! Sharon and Robert made us feel super welcome, which was much appreciated. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for Archie with good security. The location was just right - lots of nice walks nearby and Thaxted and the surrounding villages are charming. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed after a proper break. Would happily come back!
Emily
We had a fantastic week here in July with our two tiny daschund girls and they loved every minute! The village of Thaxted is charming and the cottage itself is lovely, especially the hot tub - perfect after those scorching days, since the water was nicely cooled. The hosts were really welcoming and friendly; it was nice to see their horses being taken out to the fields each day. Being near Stansted's flight path was a bit noisy, but honestly, it added a bit of charm watching the planes land. We’d definitely recommend it!
Emma
We absolutely loved this cottage! The setting is so peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The hot tub was a real treat after long walks nearby. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. Honestly, we had a fantastic time and would definitely come back.

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage has everything you could need and is super comfy. The hosts are really friendly and welcoming. Even though it’s on a working farm, it feels peaceful and quiet-like a little escape!
