We stayed in the Birch 8 berth lodge and honestly, it was so spacious with stunning views through those big windows. The kitchen was fully stocked, which was great, though some cushions might really make it feel cosier inside. The decking could do with a bit of a refresh, but that doesn’t spoil the stay. The hot tub was massive and kept the temperature perfectly, which was a huge plus. We’d definitely return to Penvelle for the scenery and location-really lovely!

One of the couches worn and covered with a blanket. Should be replaced. Only thing that let it down

From the get-go, we were really impressed with the lodge. It’s spacious, well-equipped and had everything we needed - utensils, amenities, the lot. We came as a group of five, with ages ranging from 24 to 82and there was plenty of room for everyone. The downstairs en suite was a real lifesaver for our oldest member, especially with mobility issues, making getting around much easier. Honestly, the place was spotless, which is a massive plus these days. One thing to note is the decking area - it’s a bit tired and showing signs of wear, but we saw the maintenance guy inspecting it, so that’s likely to be sorted soon. The pool was a highlight for us. Booking a slot meant we had it all to ourselves for 45 minutes - such a treat! We think it’s probably a temporary change due to the pandemic, but honestly, we’d love if they kept it like that. It’s perfect for anyone not super confident in the water or just wanting some peace and quiet after lockdowns. The staff were lovely - friendly, helpful and a pleasure to chat with. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Penvale Lakes and we definitely recommend it. Great job to everyone there during these tricky times!

We really enjoyed the location and the cosy place itself. A couple of small things could’ve made it perfect - like coat hangers on the doors, especially when they’re wet. Also, a measuring jug would’ve been handy for breakfast prep. Still, overall, a lovely stay!

At first, we were a bit unsure after reading some reviews, but honestly, our stay was fantastic. The lodge was spotless, with super comfy beds and pillows-everything we could ask for. The location was stunning and the hot tub was waiting for us when we arrived. We had such a relaxing weekend and can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay. The place was super clean, roomy and comfy with all the essentials. Only knocked a point because the decking was a bit worn and needed some fixing up. Still, lovely overall!

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming. Even on a busy farm, it felt peaceful and relaxing-definitely a little retreat for us!

We had a lovely time in a stunning spot and definitely plan to come back. That said, the site could do with some TLC-our log burner was broken, the decking’s looking a bit rough and the gutters need a good clean, honestly. Still, we enjoyed it!

One of the best holidays we have had! Quite position - just the babbling brook! Lovely fishing, swimming and jacuzzi. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Julie
Beautiful and relaxing. Just what was needed.
Louise
Great lodge with a hot tub in beautiful surroundings. We had amazing weather and the kids really enjoyed using the outdoor pool (which is covered when the weather isn’t so good). It took about an hour to walk to Llangollen which is a lovely little town. Lots of lovely walks along the canal, the river or through the countryside. It’s a shame that there isn’t a bar or restaurant on-site. There are 2 pubs nearby (not open every day) and a bar/restaurant at the nearby campsite though.
Carolyn
Stunning setting, peaceful & relaxing. We went as a group of 8 to celebrate a 50th birthday, the lodge was everything we wanted, spacious living & kitchen area, which was well equipped, and we made the most of the bbq & hot tub! Bit of a walk into Llangollen and no pavement on busy stretch of road
