Lyme Regis Museum overlooks Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast, and it is built on the site of the former home and fossil shop of Mary Anning. Three galleries tell the story of the town across 200 million years, using objects, audio and touchscreens, with plenty of interactive and touch exhibits.
Tip: If you're visiting with children, ask for the Museum Trail at Reception, which comes with the admission ticket.

A 65-acre rescue centre near Wool, home to the largest group of chimpanzees outside Africa.
Monkey World is an ape and monkey rescue centre set in 65 acres near Wool in Dorset. It was founded in 1987 and takes in primates rescued from the illegal pet trade, laboratories and abuse, rehabilitating them into natural living groups.

A former Cistercian monastery with a historic house and thirty acres of award-winning gardens on the Somerset border.
Forde Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery, now a family home, with nearly 900 years of history. Inside, you can see surviving monastic parts such as the cloisters, the monks' dormitory and the old chapter house, alongside State Rooms with ornate plaster ceilings and four-poster beds. The house is also known for its Mortlake tapestries, woven from the famous Raphael cartoons.
Tip: Dogs are welcome in the gardens on a short lead, and the nursery and gift shop can be visited without an admission ticket.

A Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion with Ham Hill stone walls, clipped yew gardens and parkland walks up to a hilltop tower.
Montacute House is a late Elizabethan mansion in South Somerset, completed around 1601 and built of golden local Ham Hill stone. Inside you can explore the ground floor, which is home to the rare Tournai Tapestry, and the Long Gallery is the longest in England and displays portraits as an outpost of the National Portrait Gallery.
Tip: Parking is free, and timed entry tickets are used on busier days, so check before you set off. The Ladies' Walk is a 45-minute climb with lovely views over the village.

Exeter Cathedral has stood at the heart of Devon for nearly a thousand years. Inside you can see the 15th-century Astronomical Clock and an early set of misericords, and guided floor tours and audio guides help bring the building to life.

Dorset's largest indoor attraction, with around 300 tanks telling the story of armoured warfare since the First World War.
The Tank Museum at Bovington tells the story of tanks and the crews who fought in them. Its collection of around 300 vehicles runs from the First World War through the Second World War and the Cold War to Afghanistan, with exhibitions built around personal stories from the soldiers themselves. It is Dorset's largest indoor attraction.
Tip: Allow 4-5 hours for your visit, and wear comfortable walking shoes as there is a lot of ground to cover.

We had a really lovely stay at Seadown! The Vista caravan was spotless and had a decent-sized fridge freezer, which was handy. Everything worked perfectly, so no worries there. We picked Seadown mainly because its within walking distance to the beach, which was ideal for our 6 and 3-year-olds. The recreation field was a bonus for kicking a ball around. Wed definitely return!

Really pleased with the caravan, it looked even better in person.
We had a pretty good stay at the Dorset Mirage. The place felt roomy and cosy, especially the lounge which was a nice touch. It was spotlessly clean and looked quite modern. Our spot by the river, with that lovely grassy view, was really nice for relaxing. The kitchen utensils were a bit basic, so we had to get a bit inventive-definitely need to pack a decent knife and BBQ tongs next time. Due to covid, some stuff was missing, like bed linen, washing up liquid and towels, so be prepared to bring your own. They only gave us a small bin bag and toilet roll initially, so make sure to stock up. Overall, a decent spot!
We had a really lovely stay here! The caravans are cosy and peaceful, perfect for relaxing. Kids loved the big play area and the ducks were a sweet touch.

Seadown holiday park is the best holiday we have had in a long time, the staff were very friendly and helpful, it is close to everything we needed, bus route to lyme regis was easy to find and very cheap, the site was very clean and has beautiful caravans, we even made friends with the local cat dave who came to us nearly everyday, we didn't want to leave as it was so relaxing and so fun. Highly recommend this site as a perfect holiday for couples and families.

There is a fish n chip van, pizza van and curry/jacket potato van that serve lovely fresh food throughout the week too.
Great location with 2 minute walk to the beach ( private access gate direct to path)
It is a 2 min walk to Main Street with mini supermarket, chip shop, x2 pubs , pharmacy, hairdresser, cafe, gift shop, bakery ( super fresh and amazing sausage rolls & iced buns) . If you need anything Morgan’s is the shop to visit from newspapers to beach items!
If you want more entertainment you have a couple of other parks around to visit for their facilities; but you can’t beat Seadown for quality, value for money & locality to everything on your doorstep!
This is perfect in every way. It is so gorgeous that you don't need any facilities.
It's a brief walk to the beach, super quiet, immaculately kept, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. You could not ask for a better site. Fabulous!
