We had a lovely time at the cottage, which is tucked away on a working farm but still feels very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely and welcoming. The place itself is really spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that’s perfect for relaxing. The garden is a real bonus - secluded, dog-proof and furnished nicely. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted has some cracking restaurants like The Star and The Maypole. We’d definitely recommend it!

We stayed for a couple of nights and honestly, it felt a bit pricey for what we got. The place was comfy, especially the beds and pillows, which made a big difference. The facilities like the hairdryer, iron and ironing board were handy. The sofas were nice, though there were a few light stains. Overall, the place was clean and cosy, but we did find a dirty sock behind the curtain in the main bedroom and a packet of sweets under the twin bed, so a bit more attention to cleaning would help. Still, we’d consider coming back!
