Visitor Reviews of Midsomer Lodges

Loved every moment, perfectly relaxing and just what we needed!

Wow, what a fantastic weekend we had! From the moment we arrived, we felt so at home. The lodge is beautifully modern and super luxurious and we loved the festive Christmas touches everywhere - it really added to the cosy vibe. The place is so well stocked; we appreciated the local cheese and bubbly waiting for us, such a nice touch. And a big thumbs up for how welcoming they were to our dog - treats, a tennis ball, dog bowls - he was made to feel just as special. The view from the lodge is simply breathtaking and knowing the entrance is gated made us feel secure throughout our stay. We got regular check-ins from the owners, which made us feel really looked after without being intrusive. The bed was massive and there were plenty of towels, so no complaints there. The only minor thing was the fridge - it’s pretty small with just a tiny freezer drawer. We’re glad we didn’t do a big supermarket shop beforeh and, or we might’ve struggled for space. Nothing serious, just a heads up for anyone planning a longer stay. Honestly, if I could give it an 11 out of 10, I would! Stunning scenery, a lovely place to relax and the hot tub on the deck was the cherry on top. We’re already talking about coming back soon!

We had a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob, Sharon and Bonnie really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The building’s been beautifully converted, keeping its historic charm but with all the comforts you could need. The location’s perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering around Thaxted and nearby villages - so much history and stunning architecture. We’d definitely recommend it for a peaceful getaway!

We absolutely loved it! It was super clean and well stocked. The views were stunning. I loved how our toddler was safe as the outside area was secure with a gate. The stars at night also are amazing, if you go make sure you sit out with a blanket and star gaze. Honestly couldn’t fault it.
Sarah
Beautiful lodge with an amazing view. The extra touches with the welcome package for both us and our doggie were so thoughtful. We loved our stay and it is certainly on our 'need to go back' list ?
David
Excellent location and property, finished to a high standard, views all around wete stunning
Sarah
Fantastic lodges, clearly a lot of thought, effort and expense has gone into them. The views are wonderful too and located really well for getting to cheddar, Wookey hole, Glastonbury, the coast etc. Everything is very professional but also a friendly touch too.
Clare
Beautiful lodge in very peaceful surroundings. Everything you need is provided and the hot tub is great. We have already booked to come back!
Julie
Stunning views and spotless lodge and hot tub. Perfect for wildlife and bird spotting too. Cannot recommend highly enough for a peaceful, luxurious break.
Vanessa
A really lovely lodge with stunning wide angle views across to Glastonbury Tor and beyond. The accommodation was clean and well equipped, and the owners were friendly and clearly took pride in paying attention to the little details. We found the location a great base for visiting Wells, Bath, Bristol, Cheddar/Wookey, the nearby coast, Stourhead and Longleat. At the end of our exploring each day, it was so lovely to come back to base and chill in the hot tub and watch the sunset over the farmhouse. We will certainly return to these lodges when we are back in the area and will be raving about it to friends and family in the meantime, no doubt. Many thanks to everyone who works hard to maintain the site and lodge so well.
Keith
We (four in the party) had a wonderful week In Tor View lodge. The lodge is very well equipped to a high standard and very modern to make a holiday in the lodges very comfortable. The view from the lodge is gorgeous and you can relax in the hot tub and take it all in. The lodges on the farm at East Compton make them ideal for visiting Bath, Wells and Frome and there are numerous National Trust properties to visit within a few miles. I would recommend Midsomer Lodges for high standard accommodation and a relaxing holiday.
Allan
Despite heavy rain it was mostly only late in the day so didn't spoil the holiday. Lots to see & do within easy reach. Great location.
Barry
The lodge is absolutely excellent the amount of detail and thought gone in to making you feel welcome and relaxed was second to none. We took our 2 dogs but I think if we decide to go again we wouldn’t take them, this is because there are no paths from the lodge to anywhere local and the public foot path we tried was dangerous, over grown and looked like it hasn’t been used in years. We ended up using the bridle path which was much better but options were very limited. The facilities for the dogs was brilliant I cannot fault that. We tried to walk to a nearby pub but was being refurbished oh dear”. All in all a very relaxing lodge with excellent views, and sunsets.
Sally
Absolutely stunning lodge with views to die for!! They really have thought of everything. We had a lovely weekend. So peaceful waking up to the sound of baby lambs in the field next to us and birds singing. We have booked to come back in January, definitely one of our favourite places we have stayed. 5 star all the way..?
Danielle
What an amazing stay! The lodge and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. The lodge has everything you need and the host even left a little complimentary gift which was a lovely touch! My partner and I were both so sad to leave, we will be back!
Victoria
Beautiful lodge in a stunning setting, the perfect place for a quiet get away
Joanne
Lovely lodge beautiful views , nothing was to much trouble
Jayne
We went for a long weekend to celebrate my friends birthday. The lodge is fantastic. I can’t think of anything that wasn’t just perfect for us. The host was welcoming and helpful. The views are amazing and it was superb to be able to sit in the hot tub and look at the fantastic views. We can’t recommend enough.
