42 reviews from guests who stayed at Exmoor Gate Lodges
We had a great time at Exmoor Gate Lodges. I can't imagine anywhere having better comms with guests, or being run more efficiently. We made use of the games room with pool table and air hockey, and the kids enjoyed the swimming pool, which we hired out for 2 hours one evening. Booking these lodges meant we enjoyed use of a private hot tub, which turned out to be worth quite a few brownie points with the family! Getting in there first thing in the morning with a coffee and watching the butterflies scoot around for their breakfast was idyllic. So many species of bird too. Creation really does show how awesome our God is; our creator and saviour. There were lots of walks suggested and the Lodges made the perfect base for exploring the whole area. You must go to Tarr Farm, which does the best cream teas, and cross the Tarr Steps over the river there. We spent 2 afternoons at Wimbleball Lake with the kayaks and paddleboards. Next time we might get an eFly lesson. Finally, if you fancy an Indian takeaway, Wiveliscombe (5 min away by car), makes some of the best Indian food I've had in a long time. My tip is the Lamb Saag... gorgeous. I hope you have a great yine like we did.
Great experience overall
We thought the lodge was a bit pricey for just two of us, but since it sleeps five, its understandable. The place was spotless when we arrived and everything worked fine during our stay. The bathroom heater was broken when we got there, but they fixed it pretty quick-really good service overall!
Lovely stay. Lodge clean and tidy. Hot tub controls and use explained on arrival. Loved the fact that it was a tranquil park lovely bit of peace and quiet
We had a lovely stay! The lodge was spotless and well-maintained. Hot tub instructions were clear, which was handy. The peaceful setting really made our trip special, loved every minute.
great holiday
We had a lovely holiday surrounded by such beautiful scenery. The only snag was we couldnt leave the dogs alone, so no dinner out for us. Still, the 10 days flew by and it was a really great experience!
great holiday and very nice surroundings the only downside for us we couldn't leave the dogs alone so no meals out at night, otherwise realyy nice experience the 10 days went way too quick
Sofas looking a little tired
We had the best weekend at Exmoor gates. The lodge was fab and the hot tub was great, it overlooked onto woodland, very peaceful and beautiful. We will be back
Our weekend at Exmoor Gates was fantastic. The lodge was lovely and the hot tub overlooking the woods was so relaxing. Such a peaceful spot, we definitely plan to return soon!
We always enjoy staying at Exmore Gate. The owners are genuinely friendly and helpful and the place feels so peaceful and secluded. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break!

We had an amazing stay! The location is stunning, nestled right in nature. The owners were super friendly and helpful, making us feel really welcome. Can't wait to return soon, it was just perfect!
We had an amazing time at Exmoor Gate Lodge! Staying in Dunkery Lodge was perfect - loved the private outdoor area and the hot tub, which was a real treat. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. Can't wait to return. Thanks so much, Diane and Gary, for a lovely week!
Great spot, would return
The place was really clean and welcoming, which we appreciated. We didnt mind paying a bit extra for electricity, even though we didnt use much. A family might feel differently though.
We had an amazing time here! Perfect for families and couples looking to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The hot tub was a real bonus! Definitely recommend.
We had such a lovely Christmas Day relaxing in the hot tub, it really felt like pure luxury. The lodge had everything we needed-washing machine, drying racks, dishwasher, even a DVD player. The little touches like disposable trays for turkey, mince pies and a mini Christmas tree made it extra special. Would definitely recommend!
Overall, we found the place quite pleasant. The staff were genuinely helpful and the lodge was lovely, especially the location and the hot tub. However, after a four-hour drive and paying a fair price, being charged extra for electricity felt a bit unfair-£10-£15 max, surely? Still, worth a visit!
The location was spot on and the lodge had all we needed for a comfortable stay. The owners made us feel really welcome-definitely returning!
Really enjoyed it, would definitely return
Really worth trying out
Great stay, would definitely return

Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely lodge and outside area. We were offered a complimentary swim due to bad weather being forecast. Looking forward to visiting again.
Great location and owners. Peaceful, relaxing, can't wait to go back
Beautiful lodge in lovely location. The accommodation is of a high standard and the owners have thought of every detail. Perfect place for a quiet, relaxing break away.
Lovely place to stay accommodation was clean very well kitted out with necessities to make for a comfortable stay. Host were amazing nothing was too much trouble. A larger area for kids to run around somewhere within the site would have been an added bonus. Scenery was lovely felt in the heart of the countryside. Hot tub area was private and not overlooked used the games room multiple times kids loved it and all very good value for money. Private pool was well worth a visit clean warm and plenty of toys for kids. would love to return for another stay.
A lovely relaxing break away from it all
Lovely setting, the lodge was clean and everything you could need was there .
It’s peaceful and full of wonderful wildlife all around.
A bit too hilly for walking for me and roads around don’t have paths always.
The villages near are really friendly and most shops and pubs are dog friendly.
A great holiday, Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great and very central to various attractions. Surrounded by woodland and wildlife, it was very quiet and peaceful.
Had a great stay and will definitely return again.
