We needed a relaxing escape with our dog and this place delivered! Lovely countryside walks, plenty of nearby pubs and top-notch accommodation. The dog loved it so much, he didn’t want to leave the car! Definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage tucked away on a working farm, yet it feels surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely lovely people who make you feel right at home. The place itself is really spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that we didn’t want to leave! The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and nicely furnished. Plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted's eateries, especially The Star and The Maypole, are worth checking out. We’d definitely recommend it!

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely spot! The setting is so peaceful and private, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The owners were super friendly and always there if we needed anything, but they also respected our privacy. The hot tub was a real treat after long days out cycling. Only thing to note is the noise from planes overhead since it’s right under Stansted’s flight path. It didn’t ruin our trip, but if you’re sensitive to noise, it’s worth knowing. Overall, a great place to unwind!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and were genuinely impressed. Rob and Sharon put a lot of thought into converting this historic place and it shows. They gave us such a warm welcome and Bonnie was lovely too. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially the charming villages and towns nearby. It’s a peaceful spot for a relaxing break and we’d definitely recommend taking some time to wander around Thaxted and beyond. Really loved it!

The accommodation was really comfy and well-kept, but the bins were often overflowing, especially when the site was busy, which was a bit of a pain. Also, the restaurant prices were quite steep, nearly a tenner for simple food like sausage and chips or a pizza. Still, overall, not too bad.

We’ve stayed at Lodge 1 at Bucklegrove a few times now and honestly, it’s become our favourite spot. The staff are always super friendly and helpful, which makes all the difference. The lodge itself is just right-particularly the hot tub at the far end, giving us privacy to really unwind. We’re already planning to come back next year! I’ve recommended it to so many friends and I’d say it’s a solid 10/10 from us. Thanks a lot!

We had an amazing weekend here, just what we needed. The place was perfect for us and our dogs, who adored the underfloor heating! The garden was great fun for them. Luna’s tail got a bit strained from all the wagging - guess she was having a blast! We’ll definitely be coming back soon. Absolutely loved it!

We stayed at this lovely cottage recently and honestly, the owners are so welcoming and thoughtful, it made our trip even better. The place is super cosy with a charming half-timbered exterior and the shower is really powerful-perfect after a day of exploring. Parking right outside was a real bonus and the place was spotless. We enjoyed peaceful walks to Thaxted and loved how easy it was to get around. Definitely recommend!

We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and honestly, it’s a lovely spot. The owners, Rob and Sharon, did a fantastic job transforming this historic building while keeping its charm intact. They were super welcoming from the moment we arrived and Bonnie was a sweet touch! The location is spot on for exploring Essex - definitely take some time to wander around Thaxted and the nearby villages, loads of interesting history and pretty sights to see. Would definitely recommend!

It was lovely clean and well maintained, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The site appears small but it's larger than you think. Our grandchildren loved the walkway with the animals in it. Enjoyed swimming each day.

Site managers were amazing. Very hard working & dedicated. Also provided reassurance and first aid to my little one when she hurt herself. Cant thank them enough. Caravans clean and tidy, site lovely with bar, food and a park outside for children.

A great little site between Cheddar Gorge and Wells. The caravan was clean and well equipped. I was impressed they provided all the little extras, like towels, toilet rolls, hand wash, washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels and even a hairdryer. These were much appreciated.

Lovely staff… lady and man very helpful in every way possible. Difficult with eating out on wed/Thursday off season due to club house closed and no other pub open in area. Difficult for dog walks but that is easily resolved just jump in a car and go out. We will not return but that is not a reflection on the owners, we just didn’t fit in .

Everything was great at Bucklegrove, 2 suggestions I would make that would have made the experience evem better 1. To have some sort of screen for the hot tub so that their is privacy from the neighbours as well as from passers by. 2. Wifi - Although it was not advertised as wifi provided, when we got there they said wifi was available, however the signal was too weak to function and mobiles were not picking up their signals from providers either. The upside with no wifi was that kids couldn't stay in their rooms but were forced to interact
