Visitor Reviews of Ribblesdale Lodges

Emma Carter
Date of stay: 8th January 2025
The garden is fantastic and secure, perfect for our dogs to play freely. However, bedroom storage is a bit lacking, which was a small hassle. Overall, a lovely place with some minor storage issues. Would recommend!

We loved this lodge! It had everything we needed and felt so warm and inviting. Out of over 20 stays, it’s definitely one of the top picks!

The lounge could definitely do with a few more lamps and each bedroom needs a dressing table.

We absolutely loved Deer Park Cottage at Ribblesdale Park! Tucked away in the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales, it’s the perfect spot for a peaceful escape. The place is beautifully designed, super cosy inside and the kitchen has everything we needed. The hot tub was a real treat after long walks, which are so easy to access from the cottage. The views are just stunning and the staff made us feel really welcome. Whether it’s a romantic break or just some time to relax, this place really hits the mark. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We’ve now been here five times and every stay just gets better. Knightley Lodge was spot on for us-beautiful views and all the essentials. The staff are always friendly, especially Ian, who went out of his way to bring treats for our dog. The food is consistently excellent, both breakfast and dinner. Can’t wait to come back next year. Thanks to everyone!

The outside space is disappointing and the hot tub is outdated and not relaxing at all.

We had a pretty good stay as a family of five, including our little 20-month-old and the dog. The lodge was surprisingly spacious, which was a bonus, though the furniture looked a bit tired. The washing machine was a handy addition, especially with a toddler around. The hot water was a bit flaky at times, which was a bit annoying. The outdoor decking and fencing definitely need a proper deep clean and some TLC, but the hot tub was fantastic - kept at the right temperature the whole time! The outdoor seating at the pub was lovely, perfect for relaxing. Staff seemed quite busy, so we missed out on the happy hour deal and weren’t told which drinks were included, which was a shame since we spent quite a bit of time there. The park could do with more facilities for toddlers, but overall, we’d still recommend a visit!

Rooms felt neglected, very gloomy and poorly maintained, quite disappointing overall.

Date of stay: 28th August 2024
Overall, the lodge was pretty nice, though there was some dust here and there. The sofa had a tiny tear and the hot tub jets weren’t all working. Still, a good stay!

It’s an alright spot, but honestly, it doesn’t live up online.

We noticed some fixtures are looking a bit worn out and need fixing. The hot tub lid’s broken and definitely needs replacing soon. Not quite what we expected.

It’s a bit of a mixed bag really. We’ve been to Ribblesdale Lodges a few times now, staying in Wentworth, Sika and this time in number 58, a Knightley Lodge. Honestly, this visit didn’t quite match up to our previous stays and there are quite a few things that could do with some attention. First off, we paid extra for an early check-in, but we ended up waiting an additional half an hour before the lodge was ready. We decided to grab a quick drink while waiting, which took about twenty minutes to arrive - just a coffee and a beer. The young staff member serving us was a bit abrupt, telling us we’d need to come back at 1pm to get into the lodge. Not ideal and a bit off-putting. The lodge itself seems to be showing signs of wear. The wooden gate was broken and had been patched up before, but it still didn’t shut properly, which was annoying. The paved area outside was quite hazardous in some spots - large gaps needed filling, weeds were sprouting through and some of the stones had shifted or cracked. Inside, the sofas were quite dirty, marked and soft - not the comfy, cosy seating we remember. One of the bedrooms had a toilet that didn’t flush well and the button needed replacing. The door handle on the inside was loose, which isn’t great. The dining table was another issue - it was sticky and we had to keep cleaning it because the stain just wouldn’t come off. The kitchen equipment needs updating too, especially the frying pan - it’s seen better days. Fixtures and fittings throughout the lodge could do with a refresh as well. One thing that really affected our sleep was the outside light that stayed on all night. There are no switches inside to turn it off, so it just shines through the curtains, making the room quite bright. There’s also a boiler in the main bedroom that switches off during the night without any heat on - maybe it’s faulty? The shower tray kept filling up to the top, so perhaps there’s a blockage there. It was disappointing because, in previous visits, the lodges were well-maintained and comfortable. On the plus side, the park itself is stunning. The grounds are kept spotless and the wildlife - peacocks and deer wandering around - really makes it special. Feeding the animals and enjoying the peaceful surroundings is always a highlight. However, it does seem like the lodges and some other facilities have become a bit tired. We understand that the park is open year-round, so repairs can be tricky, but some closures for maintenance would probably help keep things in top shape and avoid negative reviews. The restaurant is another area where things have changed. We had booked tables for all three evenings, but the first night was a disaster - the service was slow and the staff seemed overwhelmed. We waited two hours for our main course and our dessert sat on the counter for about twenty minutes before it was brought out. We ended up leaving and just paying for what we’d had. We kept having to ask for the right cutlery, drinks and order updates - it felt quite disorganised. The two young waitresses didn’t seem very accommodating, which was a shame. That said, the food itself was quite good and the following night, the manager kindly offered us a complimentary meal, which we politely declined. We also decided to cancel our last two bookings in the restaurant because of the experience. We’ve always enjoyed our stays here in the past, especially because of the lovely location and friendly atmosphere, but this time, it just didn’t quite hit the mark. We’d still recommend trying The White Bull in Gisburn - their staff and food are excellent and it’s a lovely place to eat. Overall, it’s a shame to leave this review with so many negatives, because we loved staying here before. We hope some of the maintenance issues and service teething problems can be sorted out soon, because this park has real potential!

Really enjoyed our stay, especially the park ground and the lovely cafe. The decking could do with a bit of tidy up though.

We stayed here four years ago and everything was really fantastic then. Sadly, this time around, it felt like nothing much had been updated. The hot tub was cold for two days, the condition was poor, with missing head rests, broken lighting and the cover was just not good enough. Such a shame!

Date of stay: 7th January 2024
We had a really lovely stay! The lodge was super cosy and warm and the hot tub was a real highlight. The food at the restaurant was spot-on and the New Year’s bash was great fun. This was our second visit and we’re pretty sure we’ll be back again soon!

Really handy place, but the toilet situation was odd.
Emma
Date of stay: 9th December 2023
We’ve stayed here three times now and honestly, we love the place. It’s got such a cosy vibe and we’re already planning to come back. That said, there are a few small issues that need sorting - like a loose door handle in the main bedroom and some dodgy light switches near the bed that don’t work. The small double room has a plug socket that’s a bit loose too. We also struggled a bit with the dishwasher tablet drawer; it doesn’t shut properly. A side table in the main room would be handy and for my mum’s limited mobility, a rail outside on the steps would be a lifesaver. We know these things can get missed in quick turnarounds, but just wanted to flag them. Still, we love it and will be back!

We had a really lovely stay at Brontë Lodge. The place was spotless and very comfy, with everything we needed to cook for ourselves. The garden was a big plus, completely enclosed for the dogs, which was great. It’s so peaceful at night, perfect for a good sleep. The hot tub was spotless and well looked after too. Definitely recommend!

Really enjoyed our stay, despite a few minor issues.
Ingrid
Beautiful location tucked away. Shalets were spacious and comfortable. Hot tub was great. A bit rainy!
Louise
Loved this holiday, what’s not to like? a gorgeous location, lovely lodge, staff great and a happy hour on drinks!
Andrea
Beautiful lodges in a tranquil setting. Hot tub was great. The only negative was it was quite a walk to the swimming pool from the lodge so we gave that a miss. But overall fantastic weekend with the girls
Kathryn
Beautiful lodges in a beautiful setting. Had a wonderful time.
Kerry
Wonderful place , we would definitely return ?
Alan
Really good. Weather is critical but the heated pool helped when it was overcast and cool. The hot tub was excellent. The lodge was first class and outdoor area of the lodge was perfect. I felt I could have stayed longer just taking it easy. If I couldn't be bothered to cook, the restaurant would satisfy my needs. The staff were easy to talk to and made us feel special. Because the weather can vary, some information on local attraction would have a help. Advice on where to buy a paper ect would have been welcome if included in the welcoming notes.
Rachael
Beautiful location, cabin clean and spacious. However a few minor tweaks would have improved an already great stay. No shade outside and no umbrella for table provided. No plastic glasses as stated.
Jane
Beautiful setting and lodge was beautiful as well
Richard
Excellent high quality lodge, very clean and kept in good condition. Parkland setting was very nice with plenty of local walks.
Rachael
Had an absolutely fabulous week here. The lodge was beautiful, very clean and well equipped. The beds however are extremely uncomfortable and as I have multiple health issues I had to purchase mattress toppers to make it bearable! The hot tub is set a few degrees too warm and after a warm day was too hot to get in and the staff could not lower the temperature. Be aware the kettle is not electric it goes on the gas hob, so plan a cuppa in advance as it takes an age to boil hehehe. The surroundings are beautiful and there are very tame peacocks strolling around and the beautiful Fallow deer stags wander round the park. We hand fed them as they are so tame and friendly. This really made it special. The restaurant had a limited but good menu and the food was excellent. The park need to consider installing charging points for electric cars.
Di
A family holiday spent at Ribblesdale Park was wonderful. The lodge itself was beautiful and clean and the hot tub was much appreciated. The lodge was secure with fencing and a gate which was much appreciated with a small dog and a toddler! The surroundings were idyllic with peacocks and deer roaming the grounds. Although Gisburn itself is a quiet village, there is so much to do in the surrounding area all within a short drive from the Park. A great holiday, we will return.
