It was a very comfortable lodge and had everything we needed. We didn't use the hot tub but it was in a nice private location. We did use the swimming pool and it was a great facility to be able to have it all to yourself. Wifi service was excellent. The location was good for exploring the Quantocks and Exmoor.

Date of stay: 10th July 2017
We would definitely stay here again but we would take along some additional kitchen utensils, dishcloths, tea towels & bath sheets.

We loved the accomodation, especially the outside space. The kids loved the pool and games room. We all loved the hot tub.
Jayne, Caerleon
Date of stay: 1st May 2017
Fab place, well maintained and in beautiful setings.
THe house we stayed in was for 5 persons, we were only 3 and found we had plenty of room, even tho we all slept in the same room!
If my daughter (5) was to be sleeping in the single bed (on the landing) i would have been v worried about her falling down the stairs but actually we dragged her mattress into our room as we wanted to all sleep together - there was plenty of space!
The place was spotless and superbly maintained by the family there. The surrounding were fab and we would definitely go back. The swimming pool was small and had to be book for private use but again spotless and warm. We didn't use the games room but if you had slightly older children i can see that would be great. The hot tub on our doorstep was perfect! There was a barbecue stand there that we made use of and the lemon drizzle cake on arrival was very welcoming.

Date of stay: 16th September 2016
Superb - they thought of everything including pieces of homemade welcome cake and dog treats for out two dogs. Also recommended places to eat and go.
Date of stay: 12th September 2016
Really nice lodge. We got the sleep 9 lodge and it was very spacious. Great hot tub. If you have dogs unfortunately there is no grass around the larger lodge and so you need to walk a little down a hill to find some. Would have given this a 10 if it had a grassy area here. The walks and area are just lovely. Great local pubs (dog friendly) and great walks. Please note to bring £1 coins with you for the electricity meter as we didn't realise!

Thumbs up from us!
Denise, Redhill
Date of stay: 30th July 2016
Lovely cabin with hot tub. Only wish oven / stove was better. Some mustiness in main downstairs bedroom probably from being close to hot tub.
Steve, Wickford
Date of stay: 12th June 2016
Staff are excellent. Really care and always polite and at hand to help. Very clean and hygienic including the hot tub. Games room is superb for all ages including adults. Swimming pool is brilliant you have kids because you get exclusive hire and its cheap. Really lovely place in a picturesque setting. Need to be prepared to drive 15-30 minutes to go anywhere decent (apart from local walks). Would book again for sure.
June, Birmingham
Date of stay: 27th May 2016
Beautiful, spotlessly clean cottage with everything you could need.
Kelly, Cornwall
Date of stay: 20th May 2016
Very clean and spacious accommodation. The owners were very friendly and the location was very good if you are looking for a walking holiday central to some amazing walks. The nearest town is quite a hilly 3 mile walk (about 1.5mile drive) away but we have a very energetic labrador called Bear who very much enjoyed the walk and the attention he received when we walked him to the Bear Inn . We will definately return.
Steve, Glastonbury

Date of stay: 25th March 2016
we had a lovely time at exmoor gate lodges, the facilities were very clean and comfortable family friendly and perfect location for getting around, the only bad point was having to put money on the electricity meter, for the money paid its not something you would normally expect to do

Date of stay: 25th September 2015
We had an amazing time here at Exmoor Gate Lodge and the hot tub was a real hit.
The accommodation was lovely, clean, had everything you could possible need. I had read that the electric meter was a bit expensive but for our 4 days we didn't find that at all.
Elaine, Dudley
Date of stay: 4th September 2015
Exmoor Gate Lodges are lovely. The location is so peaceful and relaxing. The hotub was amazing!! The cooker could maybe do with updating but it was fine for what we needed. The lodge we had slept 5 but there was only enough seats for 4 on the sofa's. Also the electric meter takes pound coins, we read somewhere that it was 2 pound coins. Cannot wait to visit again soon. :D
Maureen, West Midlands
Date of stay: 15th August 2015
Lovely little cottage with beautiful little garden where the hot tub is located. The only issue we found was that, with a dog, a gate on the garden would have been really useful.
Carolyn, Halifax
Date of stay: 3rd August 2015
Look out for fresh eggs from the cottage! Use the leisure facilities, great fun and relaxing. We rode at pine lodge stables which was an amazing way to see exmoor and the ponies.
M.k, Telford
Date of stay: 31st July 2015
Fantastic place to stay so beautiful and quiet with stunning views. We were warmly welcomed and shown straight away to our accommodation. It was clean, tidy and well kept. The jacuzzi was kept clean and chlorinated every day. I would recommend this site to everyone who wants to just get away from it all.

Date of stay: 22nd June 2015
We had a lovely family holiday. There are only few lodges so it felt so quiet and peaceful and we often felt we had the beautiful countryside to ourselves. Our daughter loved the play park and watching the alpaca on the hill, which we could do from our terrace. The lodge was spotless and well equipped with modern kitchen and bathroom. You have a choice of decking or private patio so you can follow the sun or choose your view. Watching the sun go down over the trees from the hot tub was probably our high light.
Evelyn, Worcester
Date of stay: 12th June 2015
Absolutely loved this holiday! Beautiful setting with two nearby lakes which made fantastic walks. Loved watching the stars appear at night from the hot tub. The lodge was quiet and very well equipped and the on-site pool, spa and games room was an unexpected bonus. We would definitely return but for a longer break next time :)
Valerie, Bristol
Date of stay: 12th June 2015
The 'Wine Fridge' was an unexpected extra and a great idea.
Everything we needed for a great holiday.
Lesley, West Kirby
Date of stay: 29th May 2015
The lodge was very comfortable and roomy for a party of 10. The only downside being we had 4 small children with us. It would be beneficial if blackout curtains or blinds were fitted as the the evening and mornings are very light at this time of the year and the children were awake very early and this was not normal for any of them.
Yvonne, Hampshire
Date of stay: 18th May 2015
Small thing on the balcony was an ashtray full of cigarettes and there was ash all over the floor, which stopped us sitting out on there.
Gemma, Southampton
Date of stay: 13th April 2015
Absolutely beautiful accommodation. Very clean and comfortable. Would love to return.
Craig, Reading
Date of stay: 9th March 2015
Really enjoyed our stay loved the hit tubs and country side. Accommodation very nice although charging extra for electricity and for swimming /using the gym seemed rather strange. Why not add it in with price for stay. Overall would go back to Exmoor lodge great scenery and great stay.

Date of stay: 21st February 2015
The cooker took a long time to heat up and one of the drawers were broken in the kids bedroom. However these were minor things and we were not bothered about them as the rest of the place was divine, my lad loved the bedroom on top of the landing.
Date of stay: 28th December 2014

Date of stay: 21st November 2014
The lodge was lovely, new bathroom which was nice, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the lodge was just an extra touch, amazing!
Susanne, Weymouth
Date of stay: 21st November 2014
Such a pity that the electric meter usage was not explained properly leading us to inadvertently spending £15 on supply, running out of coins and leaving for home the next morning at 6.00am.
Nicola, Gravesend
Date of stay: 31st October 2014
The lodges are spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a self catered holiday. A lovely new bathroom has been fitted in the lodge. You pay for your electric by £1 meter, but we only used £12 over our whole stay, and that was with the children charging their electronic gaming equipment a lot and the television on most of the day and evening!
The lodge had a huge new hot tub which was absolutely great, with the added addition this year of a canopy over it, so we could use it even when it was windy and raining.
Currently their is no mobile phone signal at the lodges but this is due to change in a few weeks time, but there is free WIFI in the games room.
We hired the swimming pool, sauna and steam room for 2 hours which allows you complete private access to the facilities for the time booked for you and your family, the four of us went along for £20 and the time spent there was absolute bliss, so would highly recommend.
The lodges are in the perfect location for a peaceful retreat, but within driving distance to the many places that Somerset and Devon has to offer.
Robert, Benfleet Essex

Ellie, Bournemouth
Date of stay: 22nd September 2014
The beds were extremely comfortable and the jacuzzi was well cared for, however we could have done with some comfier outdoor chairs and it would have been nice to have had some hand soap, tea, coffee, milk, salt, pepper and another toilet roll when we arrived.
Kathryn, Milton Keynes
Date of stay: 15th September 2014
The sofas could've been a little bigger although in the hot summer you wouldn't be inside anyway. The only negative was the cooker could've done with a bit of a clean as when we cooked a chicken in it the smoke filled the whole lodge
David, Southend
Date of stay: 13th September 2014
I think this lodge was good value for a nice holiday
Sandra, Chester
Date of stay: 5th September 2014

Very quiet, facilities were very clean, Everyone enjoyed staying at Exmoor gate and would stay again
Sarah, Norfolk
Date of stay: 18th August 2014
A beautiful location. The only hassle was not having oven gloves and having to put £1 coins in an electric meter. That was anachronistic because we don't put money in the meter when we visit a hotel.
Marie, Dover
Date of stay: 25th July 2014
Beautiful , well looked after cottage with a well equipped kitchen. Everything needed for a self-catering holiday is provided.

Date of stay: 19th May 2014
8of us shared this lodge and it was lovely and spacious, 3 bathrooms overall, so no issues there. Everything you could need for a lovely chilled weekend, the hot tub was amazing and even with all 8 of us in it there was still lots of room. Every room was really big and lovely big windows overlooking the countryside, amazing!!
Brenda, Newuay Cornwall
Date of stay: 10th May 2014
lovely clean cottage plant of comfort
Date of stay: 26th April 2014
Lovely lodge, with plenty of room for all the family, everyone enjoyed the hot tub, especially the 4 and 2 year old boys. Would definitely go back. Friendly owners.
Lovely location, very relaxing. Lodge very clean and contains everything you need. Hot tub superb!
Owners were very helpful and accommodating, couldn't do enough for you.
Lovely lodge perfect for our family holiday of 3 generations despite the miserable weather
Very nice area and relaxing facilities
Ideal scenery good location friendly staff and ideal lodge layed out well.
Absolutely loved the facilities and Gary and Diane (hosts) make sure your stay is enjoyable, even contacting you 3 days before to make sure your questions are answered and your route is correct. The lemon drizzle cake in the chalet was a nice touch. A little expensive for 2 nights but we paid for the package which could accommodate 5 so for 2 of us we appreciated the space and quiet location. Will definitely recommend.
Lovely clean and we'll equipped cottage. Relaxing beautiful location. Friendly helpful staff.
Lovely, relaxing break.
We had a fab and relaxing weekend , loved the hot tub ❤️
We had a fantastic mid week break. The staff were very helpful and attentive to our needs and requests. Beautiful scenery and country walks. The lodge was perfect for 2 families to share and the hot tub was a big hit with everyone. Clean and tidy, couldn't have asked for more! The sunshine provided enough heat during the day so we had little need to use heating and surprisingly used under £15 on electric meter when we had budgeted for around £30-£40 following other reviews we had read.
