We had a fantastic time! Sharon and Robert really went out of their way to make us feel at home, which we appreciated. The place was spotless, comfy and felt safe for Archie, our dog. The location couldn’t have been better - loads of lovely walks nearby and Thaxted and other villages are just charming. Honestly, our week away did us the world of good and we left feeling totally recharged!
Emma, Cleethorpes
Date of stay: 27th March 2025
The lodge was lovely overall, but we did notice some stains on the sofa that looked like they hadn’t been deep cleaned properly. Also, we could have used a bit more cleaning supplies in the kitchen and bathroom. Still, a pretty great place!

Date of stay: 15th March 2025
The lodges were spotlessly clean and really lovely overall. We did have a bit of a hiccup with the hot tub on our last night - it needed refilling and just didn’t heat up enough to enjoy. Still, overall a good stay!

Date of stay: 14th March 2025

Rajiv
Date of stay: 9th March 2025
We had a really lovely stay at this place. The setting is so peaceful and private, yet the owners are super friendly and on hand if you need anything. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling, definitely a highlight! The only thing to note is that the cottage is quite close to Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much once we got used to it, but if you’re sensitive to noise, it’s something to consider. Overall, a great spot for a relaxing trip!
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 9th March 2025
Really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless, well-equipped and that hot tub was a real highlight.
Alex
Date of stay: 8th March 2025
We had a fantastic stay at this cosy little cottage. It’s incredibly well-equipped, so we didn’t need to bring a thing and we definitely overpacked! The welcome pack was a real touch, packed with useful info and menus - such a thoughtful detail. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden, which was a real bonus and the hot tub was perfect for relaxing after days out. Sharon and RobeRead were quick to reply if we had questions, making everything stress-free. Thanks for a lovely break, we’ll be back!
Jamie
Date of stay: 1st March 2025
We had an amazing stay at this charming cottage tucked away on a working farm, yet it felt incredibly private. Robert and Sharon were lovely hosts, making us feel very welcome. The place itself is huge, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom and the bed was super comfy - we slept like logs! The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded and furnished nicely. Plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted’s restaurants like The Star and The Maypole are worth a visit. We’d definitely recommend it!
Lucy

We stayed at the Kingfisher Lodge recently and honestly, it was pretty lovely. The views over the lake were stunning and the place felt really cosy and inviting. Beds were comfy, but don’t forget your hairdryer - that’s the only thing missing! Would definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! The place was spotlessly kept and had everything we could need. Our dogs loved the nearby walks and meeting Penelope the pig was a real highlight. The host was super friendly and quick to respond. Definitely coming back - great value and a lovely escape for us and the pups!
Martin, Chelmsford
Date of stay: 27th January 2025
The lodge was spotless and br and new, no issues there. Just a heads-up-adding a vacuum would be handy and a dishwasher would be a real bonus if space allowed!
Elaine
Best holiday ever. Osprey Lodge is spotless. Staff are amazing. We will definitely be returning
Jane
We stayed in the kingfisher it was clean & well equipped, the only thing I will say is the hot tub needs to have a fence down the side where the footpath to make it abit more private.
Samantha
The overall experience for us, was perfect, we found the location, the atmosphere and the setting just right. If you’re an angler and your main purpose for booking Caistor lakes is predominantly to carp fish, then this might not be the place for you as it’s no runs water. If however you have booked for a relaxing break With the added bonus of being set on a lake and the possibility of catching some stunning fish, then get booking. The lodges are faultless (we stayed in Shearwater on Arthur’s pool) there really wasn’t anything we could suggest needed changing. It really was Home from home with the additional of a beautiful hot tub. The food in the restaurant was 5* the chef really does deserve a pat on the back, yes there are sometimes delays and yes you do need to book. I always see this as a good sign and wouldn’t expect to turn up to a restaurant of this standard and find an available table. Staff were friendly and helpful, everything was explained to us on arrival and again we were warned that the restaurant gets busy and usually needed a booking. If I could suggest anything a little shop with the basics/fresh produce would be ideal.
David
Absolutely wicked holiday from start to finish. Lodge 10* immaculate had a brilliant 2 weeks. Fishing excellent lost count of the amount of carp I caught would highly recommend this lodge. Sun is on the lodge all day. Hot tub a must
Ian
I do think they need to do something with the weed in the lake in my opinion
Simon
Clean and very relaxing
David
Second time here, and to be honest gets better each time would recommend this holiday to anyone simply fantastic ... see you next year!!
Angela
Lovely place would recommend
Ria
Absolutely fantastic
Caroline
Great place to stay..beautiful location ?..staff so friendly & helpful?
Michelle
Staff were so friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work there. Wanted peace and quiet which is exactly what we got. Pretty views from lodge, plenty of wildlife and very private hot tub areas, the location of lodges make it so you are not over looked. Only the mattress let it down, would have expected slightly better quality for such luxury accommodation. Enough equipment to cook, lovely rainfall shower and comfortable seating.
