Visitor Reviews of South Lakeland Leisure Village

Emma, Keighley
Date of stay: 17th March 2025
Overall, we had a lovely stay at the lodge and the whole experience was quite enjoyable. The lodge itself was great and we really appreciated the effort to make everything comfortable. The only hiccup was with the booking details-on the confirmation, it listed a different lodge on the lake, which got us pretty excited since it would’ve been a real treat, especially as we were celebrating my daughter’s GCSE results. Sadly, when we arrived, it wasn’t that lodge but one at the back with a limited view. We were told the owners decided to stay there, which is fair enough, but perhaps it’d be better to avoid putting the actual lodge name on the confirmation to prevent any disappointment. Also, it would help to mention what items aren’t provided, like tea towels and oven gloves, as it caught us off guard. We underst and due to Covid things have changed, but clearer info would be useful. Still, overall a lovely break and we’d consider returning!

Date of stay: 30th October 2024
We had a really great stay at this place! It’s super close to the bars, restaurants and all the leisure stuff, which was perfect for us. The lodge is tucked away behind a secure barrier, so you feel pretty safe. The place itself was spotless and very well looked after. The beds were incredibly comfy, making it easy to settle in after busy days. The space was just right for our group of 4 adults, a kid and our two dogs. The hot tub’s in the balcony and shuts at 10am, which some might find a bit odd, especially since it faces out onto the site, but honestly, it didn’t bother us at all - we just popped in and out! The little touches like prosecco, orange juice, chocolates and ice cubes upon arrival made it feel special. We’d definitely come back if we could!

Date of stay: 9th October 2024
We had a great weekend at the lodge! The place was super cosy once the heating was on and the hot tub was definitely the highlight. The kitchen had everything we needed and towels were provided. If I had to suggest one thing, a few air fresheners around might make it even better when you walk in. Still, lovely stay!

Best holiday experience, totally recommend booking now!

Date of stay: 10th September 2024
Overall, we had a lovely stay, though the WiFi situation was a bit of a letdown. The lodge we stayed in didn't have WiFi, even though the website mentioned it was available at an extra cost, which we were happy to pay for. The staff did their best trying to help us connect in other ways, but unfortunately, nothing worked. It might be good if they clearly state whether a lodge has WiFi or add a request option when booking. Still, we enjoyed our time here!
Harriet, Sheffield
Date of stay: 9th September 2024
Honestly, our stay was a bit of a letdown. When we arrived, the place wasn’t as clean as we’d hoped-there were nail clippings lying around and hair in the bathroom that looked like it was from a previous guest. We also had to wash most of the pots ourselves because the glasses still had dirty water in them. We were pretty disappointed, especially since we had to check in late and leave early due to COVID cleaning rules, but even the visible stuff was missed. It was also really dusty with loads of cobwebs everywhere. We get staffing’s been tricky lately, but we couldn’t even book a meal, which was frustrating. The bar’s hours from noon till nine felt a bit odd, especially since the site's pretty remote and there’s nowhere nearby to get food without a trek. All in all, not what we expected, but hey, that’s travel sometimes!

Date of stay: 19th August 2024
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The inside was spotless and super comfy, with great facilities. The outside, though, was a bit disappointing - it definitely needed a clean before we arrived. Had to do that ourselves, unfortunately.
James, Gb
Date of stay: 10th August 2024
We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The view was stunning and it felt really cosy inside. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made us feel welcome. When we arrived, the boiler wasn't working, but they sent someone round within half an hour to fix it, so no big deal there. However, we did notice there was no hand soap or sanitiser in either of the lodges, which was a bit of a pain, especially during these times. It would’ve been handy to have a list of what wasn’t supplied beforeh and so we could have come better prepared. Also, the check-in time is actually 5pm, not 3pm as advertised, which was a bit frustrating, especially in winter with the early sunset. Still, overall, a nice stay!

Date of stay: 4th August 2024
We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it was lovely! The living area and kitchen were perfect for relaxing and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms were a great size too. Definitely impressed with how nice it was!
Emma, Daltoninfurness
Date of stay: 21st July 2024
Honestly, we probably won't stay here again. The lodge is right next to another one that recently got sold and the new owner was doing some noisy work-lots of banging and laminate flooring being laid. Plus, it’s next to a busy main road with trains passing often, which can be pretty disruptive. Not ideal for a peaceful stay.
Emma
Date of stay: 20th July 2024
Great family getaway, lovely lodge, would definitely suggest it to friends.

Date of stay: 18th July 2024
Great family spot, really well looked after and the leisure pool is lovely!
Mark
Date of stay: 17th July 2024
The place was pretty nice overall, really clean when we arrived and the kitchen was well-stocked with good equipment. Only downside was the mattresses which were quite worn out and not very comfy, plus the pillows were pretty thin. Also, it would've been handy to have a coat or shoe rack, but otherwise, a decent stay!
James, Walsall West Midlands

Great stay in Gold 2, really enjoyed the experience overall!

Date of stay: 11th May 2024
Very comfortable stay, felt like being at home, loved it!
Rebecca, Wakefield
Date of stay: 1st May 2024
Overall, we had a good stay. The only thing that bugged us was the colour of the rug in the front room-cream, right by the French doors leading to the decking. Since it’s a pet-friendly place, after a few hours of wet paws walking all over it, we ended up rolling it up out of sight for the rest of the week. Not a big deal but worth mentioning!

Date of stay: 30th March 2024
We had a great weekend here! The place was lovely and spotless, really warm and comfy. The furniture seemed fairly new, which was a nice touch, though the bathroom looked a bit outdated. The hallway doors could do with a spruce up. Kitchen had everything we needed, so overall, we enjoyed our stay and loved the view of the grassed area. Great value!
Alexandra, Surrey
Date of stay: 3rd March 2024
The lodge was really modern and comfy, with a lovely lakeside view. We enjoyed the fishing jetty and took advantage of the pool and gym, even if just once. Nice stay!

Date of stay: 21st February 2024
We stayed at this lodge recently and really enjoyed it. The books and games were a lovely bonus, perfect for relaxing evenings. The outdoor decking with furniture looked great, though it’s a shame the weather wasn’t better in Feb. Maybe a bigger sofa for six would have been more comfy, but overall, very nice!
Emma, Westgate On Sea

Emma, Ingleby Barwick Stockton
Date of stay: 9th January 2024
We loved our stay! The lakeside lodge was stunning and the site itself was lovely. Although booking the restaurant was tricky (probably due to Covid), the trips around the area made up for it. We’ll definitely come back!
Emma, Newcastle
Date of stay: 28th November 2023
We had a really lovely stay at the park. Everything was spotless and well looked after. The food in the restaurant was top notch and honestly, we couldn't find a single fault. Definitely deserves its five stars!
Emma, Gb
Date of stay: 14th November 2023
We stayed in a stunning 3-bed lodge with a hot tub right by the lake and honestly, it had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The only hiccup was with the 2-bed platinum we booked-it's not actually on the lake, it's a couple of rows back. We had to raise it and they kindly offered us a free upgrade. Definitely recommend contacting South Lakel and directly to double-check your lodge’s location before you arrive. Overall, a lovely stay!
Sara
Very quiet peaceful site, unfortunately the restaurant cannot run at capacity due to staffing shortages, so limited menu. Very relaxing and a good base for the lakes etc.
Victoria
We were very impressed with the facilities at South Lake Land leisure Village and will be returning
Bethany
Nice lodges with ple ty of outdoor space, onsite restaurant was nice and reasonably priced, no onsite shop but 5min drive away from local centre with shops, pubs and restaurants, lovely pool although shallow.
Robert
Lovely setting on the edge of the Lake District and Yorkshire dales. From our lodge we did have a view of the lake and was in a quiet setting. On some parts of the site, there was traffic noise. Swimming pool, gym and restaurant onsite as well.
Claire
Visited here for years and keep returning. Love it and always return. Setting and facilities fantastic
Debra
We had a wonderful 3 nights in Gressingham 40. It was so quiet and clean. Park facilities were excellent. The lake is beautiful. Special thanks to Matt in the Fitness Centre for being brilliant. Made to feel like part of the family. We will be back.
Leigh
Great location for visiting morecambe, the lakes and the dales . Restaurant was fantastic.
Janette
Cabin was great, excellent location. Would definitely go back. Would of liked the bar and restaurant to be open longer as it closed at 8 or 9pm. I can’t rate the food on site, we didn’t eat there.
Jane
