Looe is really two towns. East and West Looe face each other across the river, joined by an old bridge, with fishing boats tied up along the quays, a sandy beach tucked behind the Banjo Pier and a wooded island sitting just offshore. You’ll smell the salt and the pasty shops before you’ve found a parking space.
None of the Looe holiday parks sit in the town itself. They’re spread across the countryside, valleys and clifftops around it on Cornwall’s south coast, so the real choice isn’t just a caravan holiday home or a luxury lodge: it’s whether your seaside holiday comes with its own beach, a woodland valley, sea views towards Polperro or a forest full of millponds.
That’s how we’ve split them below, comparing the accommodation and facilities at seven parks on our listings, closest to town first.

Which Looe holiday parks are closest to town?
Three are within a 10 minute drive, and the furthest is just under half an hour away. Tap a column heading to sort the table.
Every one of them welcomes pets.
Caravan parks Looe families and couples book first

The closest holiday park, 1.6 miles out, and the biggest here, with 45 holiday homes on our listings. There’s an indoor heated pool and the Polperro Bar & Grill for family meals, so it’s an easy pick for a harbour day followed by a swim when the weather turns. UK Parks lists its season as 15 March to 15 November.
7 mins by car | sleeps up to 18 | hot tubs | pets welcome | fishing | lodges

Tucked into woodland with views through the valley towards Millendreath Bay, Tregoad is the five-star, does-everything holiday park run by Waterside. Its facilities include an indoor heated pool that’s new for 2025, a sauna and steam room, the Stargazy Bar & Grill, a restaurant and bar, a shop, under-5s soft play and nature trails round two fishing lakes. Tregoad’s accommodation runs from caravans to hot tub lodges and cottages, and the largest holiday home sleeps 18. Guests rate it 4.9.
Going in late autumn? The Hoseasons listing says the pool and restaurant only open at weekends in November 2026.
8 mins by car | sleeps up to 4 | pets welcome | lodges

This is the only park here with its own beach. It sits in a quiet wooded valley running down to a south facing sandy cove, where the water is clean enough to support a native British seahorse species. The beach club runs paddle boarding, kayaking and body boarding with Sea Explorers in season (charges apply), plus volleyball and football on the sand when the weather allows. The bar opens Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 9pm.
It’s open all year, with four homes on our listings, each sleeping up to four.
11 mins by car | sleeps up to 8 | pets welcome

Up on the coast between Looe and Polperro, with sea views, Tencreek is the lively one. Expect nightly family entertainment with Deano the Dolphin, a children’s club for 5 to 15s, bar meals, a takeaway, cash bingo and star cabarets. The indoor heated pool and toddlers’ pool are listed as open from 13 February 2026 to 3 January 2027, which covers Christmas and New Year as well!
There are touring and camping pitches here as well, though we list the caravans.
11 mins by car | sleeps up to 6 | hot tubs | pets welcome | lodges

Twelve homes from the Bouja Luxury Caravan Breaks Collection, less than a mile from the Cornish coastline. Each has a double with an en suite toilet, a twin, an open plan lounge and kitchen, and French doors onto decking with garden furniture.
Small, smart and rated 4.8, it’s a good fit for a couple or a family of four who’d rather have a hot tub than evening entertainment.
15 mins by car | sleeps up to 6 | hot tubs | pets welcome

Former Cornish farm buildings at Watergate, turned into sleek modern cottages in a wooded valley with countryside views. Seven of the 14 cottages have a hot tub, and from May to October there’s a heated outdoor pool and an outside bar, plus a tennis court, a play area with trampolines and swings, and bikes to hire. Watergate sits at the far end of Kilminorth Woods, so there’s a woodland walk along the river into the west side of town.
24 mins by car | sleeps up to 8 | hot tubs | pets welcome | lodges

Two storey lodges in a secluded river valley, set entirely within a Forestry Commission estate with woodland and millponds all round. Activities include forest trails, cycle trails, nature trails, archery and a children’s play area. Some lodges are suitable for guests with partial disabilities and have an outdoor hot tub with a hoist.
Further out, yes, but the sea is still within reach.
Want to be nearer Polperro? Killigarth Manor, with its clubhouse and indoor swimming pool, and Trelay Hideaway Holiday Park, a 5-star GOLD rated Visit England park within walking distance of Pelynt village, are compared in our guide to holiday parks near Polperro, just along the coast.

Things to do in East and West Looe
The Banjo Pier and the quays
Start on the east bank, where narrow streets lead down to the sand and the round-ended Banjo Pier. Engineer Joseph Thomas reshaped it in 1896 to stop the harbour mouth silting up, and it’s said to be the first of its kind. Book a boat trip by writing your name on the boards along the quay, then cross the bridge for the quieter west side.
The Old Guildhall Museum
Rainy afternoon? This 15th century building tells the town’s fishing and boatbuilding story, and its old magistrates’ court and cells are still there to see.
Afterwards, try the Jolly Sailor, a pub dating from 1516.
Which beaches allow dogs?
- East Looe Beach: golden sand sheltered by the pier, with rock pools on its east side at low tide. Visit Cornwall lists a dog ban all year.
- Hannafore, West Looe: a long shingle stretch full of rock pools, and dog friendly all year round.
- Millendreath: a sandy cove that’s completely covered at high tide, so check the tide times.
- Plaidy: some sand at low tide and very limited parking, so arrive on foot.
- Talland Bay: a small cove with two beaches and a café on the way to Polperro, dog friendly all year.
Seagrass beds cover about 1.1 square kilometres of the bay from Hannafore to Millendreath, says University of Plymouth research, and the Looe Marine Conservation Group runs rock pool rambles at Hannafore.
A boat trip to Looe Island
That wooded island offshore is a nature reserve run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust, and you can only land on an official trip. Boats leave the floating pontoon by the RNLI lifeboat station, the crossing takes about 20 minutes and you’ll get around two hours ashore to spot grey seals, nesting cormorants, shags and oystercatchers. Trips run from spring to early autumn and fill up fast.
Walks from your park
Kilminorth Woods and the Giant’s Hedge
From the Millpool car park in West Looe, follow the river west and you’re soon in Kilminorth Woods, which with Trenant Woods across the water makes one of the largest valley oak woodlands in Cornwall. Buzzards and peregrines nest here. One path follows the Giant’s Hedge, an ancient earthwork thought to have marked the border of a Cornish kingdom between the Looe and Fowey estuaries. It gets slippery after rain.
The coast path to Polperro
Head west on the South West Coast Path past Hannafore and Talland Bay to reach the fishing village of Polperro after around five miles, with a bus back. The route is graded moderate. Stop at the Talland café halfway.
Days out further afield
The Eden Project, Fowey and Bodmin Moor are all easy day trips by car, which is a big part of why this corner suits a holiday park in Cornwall so well. Our guide to caravan holidays in Cornwall has more ideas.
Getting there, parking and the train
- By car: take the A38 towards Liskeard, turn left at Trerulefoot onto the A374, then follow the B3253 through Hessenford.
- Parking in town: the Millpool in West Looe is the big long stay car park, with 964 spaces and EV charging. Cornwall Council’s summer tariff (1 April to 31 October) is £11.50 for 24 hours or £29 a week.
- Short stays: the Riverbank car park is limited to three hours and fills quickly.
- By train: the Looe Valley Line runs from Liskeard in about 30 minutes, hourly from Monday to Saturday, with Sunday trains from April to mid-October. Dogs are welcome, and the last two miles run beside the estuary, home to little egrets and herons.
When’s the best time to visit?
Late July and early August bring the Looe Lugger Classics, when traditional wooden boats race in the bay and the West Looe quayside turns into a regatta village. In 2026 it ran from 31 July to 2 August.
For calm sand and easy parking, September wins.
What to pack for a park holiday here
