We recently celebrated my partner’s birthday with a weekend away and it couldn’t have been more lovely. The hosts were super friendly and helpful from start to finish, making us feel right at home. The lodge itself was spotless and really well kitted out - we lacked for nothing. The location is fantastic, plenty to see and do in north Norfolk. We’re already planning our next visit, can’t wait!

We spent a week here in July with our two little dachshunds and honestly, it was lovely. The village of Thaxted is charming and our dogs loved making new friends in the neighbourhood. The cottage itself is cosy and well-kept, with a hot tub that was such a treat, especially during the scorching days when the water was just right for a cool down. The hosts were really friendly and made us feel at home. Watching the planes land at Stansted was surprisingly enjoyable too. Definitely a place we’d return to!

The hot tub and fairy lights added a lovely touch. Plenty of activities nearby for the children too. Can't wait to come back!

We had such a lovely stay at this lodge! The place was spotlessly clean and felt really peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The host greeted us warmly, with fresh flowers and some welcome treats like milk, wine, tea, coffee and even shampoo and conditioner - a really nice touch. We stayed in Mead 2, which comfortably sleeps four with two bedrooms. The master bedroom was spacious, with an en-suite shower, a double bed, a walk-in wardrobe and even a TV, dressing table and hairdryer - all really handy. The second bedroom was a twin, also with a good wardrobe, dressing table and TV. The shared bathroom had a bath, which was great. The kitchen had everything we needed for a family of four, including a dishwasher and a washer-dryer, so no worries about laundry or dirty dishes. They even thought about plastic glasses for around the hot tub, which was a lovely addition. Speaking of the hot tub, it was tucked away at the back, super private and perfect for relaxing in the evening with fairy lights twinkling. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which was great for planning our days out. There’s plenty to do nearby - lovely pubs for meals and a day trip to Norwich (about 40 mins drive) and Great Yarmouth (around an hour) for some seaside fun. We stayed for four nights from Bank Holiday Monday and felt totally relaxed. Would definitely recommend and we’re already thinking of booking again!

We had a really enjoyable girls weekend here. The lodge was lovely and in a great spot-close enough for shopping trips but also perfect for some peaceful country walks. A couple of small things would make it even better, like adding a light at the back of the lodge near the hot tub and maybe some towelling robes since it gets quite cold in winter evenings. Still, definitely recommend!

We stayed at Otters Mead Lodges recently and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The place was spotless and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, wine and treats for the kids which was a nice surprise. The lodge was really spacious and airy, with everything we needed - including vanity packs for everyone and extra towels for the hot tub, which was a real bonus. We loved how it was positioned, giving us plenty of privacy thanks to the angled layout and bamboo screening around the decking. It felt really secluded and peaceful. All in all, a fantastic spot for a relaxing Norfolk getaway - we’d definitely come back!

We had such a lovely stay at this cottage! The place is super well-kept and has everything you could need. The dog walks right outside were perfect for our furry friends. The host was really friendly and quick to reply, which made everything so easy. Meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig, was a real highlight. We’ll be back for sure-great value! Highly recommend.

We had such a lovely stay at the lodge! Honestly, it looked even better in real life than in the pics. Everything was spotless and beautifully decorated, definitely with a 'love' theme going on. They really thought of everything - teas, coffees, biscuits, milk, toiletries and a few surprises that we didn’t even expect. The hot tub was a highlight; it was spotless and super easy to get into, perfect for relaxing. The place felt really cosy and we loved how remote it was - almost no phone signal and the Wi-Fi wasn’t great, which actually made it more peaceful. We’d definitely come back!
Emma, St Albans
Date of stay: 30th November 2023
We recently stayed at Calla Lily for a weekend and it was such a lovely experience. From the moment we arrived, the lodge was immaculately clean and the thoughtful touches by the owners really made us feel at home-milk in the fridge, drinks for the kids, a bottle of wine and fresh flowers on the table. Otters Mead’s location is perfect for a peaceful retreat in North Norfolk; we enjoyed exploring Wells and going on a boat trip to see the seals in Blakeney, even if just for a short stay. The owners are genuinely friendly and welcoming, which added to the cosy vibe. The hot tub was a real treat, especially with the fairy lights glowing at night. We’d definitely recommend Otters Mead for anyone looking to unwind!

We spent five days at Mead Two and honestly, it was a lovely stay. The welcome pack caught us off guard in a good way - way more stuff than we expected, which meant we didn’t have to pack half as much. The lodge itself felt like a proper home, super comfy and fully kitted out with everything we needed. The onsite shop was handy too, with pretty decent prices on essentials. Meeting the owners on both arrival and departure was a real plus - they’re genuinely friendly folks. We all had such a great time and we’re definitely planning to come back. Would highly recommend this place for a chilled break!

We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this place. The owners are super friendly and helpful, but they’re not overbearing, which we appreciated. The fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around safely. The cottage had everything we needed and we even enjoyed a BBQ one evening. The hot tub was fantastic! We’d definitely come back and already recommended it to friends. Thanks for a lovely break!

We stayed at this lovely cottage recently and honestly, it was just what we needed. The owners are genuinely lovely and made sure we felt welcome from the start. The place itself is adorable, with that charming half-timbered look and a really strong shower that was much appreciated after long walks. The bed was super comfy and the cosy kitchen/living area made it feel like home. Parking right next to the cottage was a real bonus. Plus, it’s well heated and spotless. We enjoyed exploring the nearby fields and the quaint village of Thaxted, which is only a short drive away. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Rachel
A great place to stay. The location is great and very central so nowhere is too far. The lodge had everything we needed, was really clean and beautifully presented. The hot tub was well used by us all. The only thing that we would like to see added is a couple of recliner type chairs at the back by the tub as it was the only shady spot! The owners were very welcoming and helpful.
Jon
Quiet site. Tidy and well kept.

The best place I have ever stayed in whilst holidaying in the UK, nothing was too much trouble and some real nice touches with the welcome gifts like wine and toiletries. Perfect for our family of 4 with a 7 and 4 year old and a great base for exploring the local area. The shop on site was great too and everything was spotlessly clean. Will be staying again and also will recommend to family and friends. Thanks for a great holiday!
