I did buy a new frying pan and some wooden spoons which I left there as the frying pan wasn’t that good but hopefully whoever goes in next we will still have that there to help

Beautiful, spacious lodge. Some silly things like door handles a bit tired and ropey now but otherwise all good. Secure decking for the dog and beds, sofas all comfy

Very poor left 4 days early and all the receptionist said was did you enjoy it??? Umm NOCouldn't keep children safe in accommodation he kept disappearing out of the windows and front door as they can't be locked to stop egress, unsafe near the water.Play equipment seen better daysNo walks anywhere only on a road that all you can see is a hedge unsafe for children Pool staff very unhelpful more interested in people that took their dogs in than explaining anything to us, some people were in the pool hours we got told to leave after 1 hour even though it was nearly empty. Pub not open long enough, nothing to do.

Booked last minute, for a long weekend, the only accommodation left was dog friendly hot tub ones . Was a little worried would be doggy as we weren’t bringing a dog but pleasantly surprised, other than odd cobweb log cabin was really clean & didn’t smell of dog either . The outside areas / hot tub / trims around shower / bath are a bit tired and need some tlc . The pool & especially the changing rooms could do with an upgrade. Lovely quiet site, great for a quiet adult holiday . I wouldn’t bring children as not enough to keep them occupied, & You definitely need a car as not much nearby . . Staff friendly . Check out is quite early & checking in quite late so if you’re just staying for the weekend it’s not great value . The one thing we really didn’t like was the sensor lights at front of cabin , if you relaxing in the hot tub in the evening, you keep getting flood lit when you move & no way of turning them off . The internet that you have to pay for it hit & miss & not worth it .

Cabin very small for the amount of money that they are asking holiday makers to pay been in two bigger ones recently for half the price.

Fabulous chalet- airy and spacious. Hot tub was lovely. Lovely and quiet. Tiny improvement would be a bit more crockery in the kitchen ie mixing bowl/ Pyrex

The only complaint would be the front door is rather high for anyone with difficulties in walking and the doormat inside proved to be slippery on the floor to step onto, so we removed it for our stay.

Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn that the clubhouse and entertainment facilities closed at 9:00 p.m.—a detail that was not made clear at the time of booking. While the area itself was pleasant, this early closure was unexpected and somewhat disappointing.Unfortunately, shortly after check-in, we encountered several issues across all four chalets. Two of the units had broken showers that could not be repaired until the following day. One chalet was unable to connect to the Wi-Fi service, which we had to pay extra for. Additionally, the hot tubs in all units were in an unsatisfactory condition—grimy with a visible scum on the surface, and overall not clean. The following day, after returning from an outing, we discovered that the games room—the only advertised form of entertainment for families—had been booked for a private function and was therefore inaccessible. This was especially disappointing for those of us with young children who had been looking forward to using the facility and couldn’t understand why they weren’t allowed to join in the fun while on their holiday which inevitably caused distress to a one year old.On our final day, we were informed that the clubhouse closed at 6:00 p.m. and the last food orders were at 4:00 p.m. Given the remote location of the site, with the nearest alternative dining options a 15-minute drive away, this was very inconvenient and again, not clearly communicated.Overall, we found the experience underwhelming. The facilities did not meet the standard we expected based on your website, and had we not had access to cars, the weekend would have been significantly more disappointing. We strongly feel that if advertised amenities such as entertainment and clubhouse services are restricted or unavailable, this should be clearly stated prior to booking and reflected in the price. Furthermore, the condition of the chalets did not justify the cost.I hope you will take this feedback seriously and look into improving both the accuracy of your advertising and the standard of accommodation and facilities provided.

We liked the spaciousness of the escape 5 and 2 bigger beds plus 3 bathrooms was a real treat. We were basically happy with the lodge but it was showing signs of wear particularly in the bathrooms. Despite is being 4 bed the dining table was only for 6. There were 2 more chairs but they didn’t fit round the table and we had to bring a patio table inside. The curtains in the two double rooms were far too thin causing us to wake at 5am. The hot tub was a generous size. The kitchen equipment and crockery was on the minimalist side.

We had an amazing weekend at this lodge! The place was spotless and everything you could want was there. The beds were super comfy with nice linen and the hot tub was the highlight-spent ages in it. Definitely a place we’ll come back to. Highly recommend!

The lodge was well-kept and cosy, which we appreciated. We did run into a couple of problems, like a blown bulb and a broken toilet seat, but the staff responded swiftly and kindly. Nice stay overall!

The farmhouse was pretty roomy for ten of us, which was great. The hot tub and surroundings were lovely, really relaxing. Only downside was the cutlery and crockery - pretty limited. Dishwasher was a bit of a letdown, but staff were really helpful with everything.

Date of stay: 30th March 2025
The living accommodation is good. We would have preferred a double rather than a queen bed as it was very tight either side of the bed. The kitchen lacked some equipment e.g. potato peeler, wooden spoons, dishes for cooking with and lids that fitted the saucepans.
Emma
Date of stay: 30th March 2025
Overall, we found the place pretty comfortable and the living space was nice. That said, the bed was a bit snug with just a queen size - a double would have been better for us. The kitchen could do with more utensils like a potato peeler, wooden spoons and proper lids for the saucepans. Still, it’s a decent spot for a short stay!
Emma, Rochford

Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was cosy and had everything we needed. Perfect for our dog too!
CAROLINE
Really friendly check-in, after a call to say our lodge was available early - which was a bonus. The location is quite remote and you need a car to get around.
Victora
Beautiful location and views, Our lodge with hot tub was very lovely and clean x We had the perfect week Thank you we will be coming back soon x
Tracey
Lodge was I the perfect location and lovely, great views and ideal for us as couples and our dog. The kitchen was well equipped and loved having home comfort like the dishwasher. Only a couple of things not 100% the recliner sofa was broken in recliner position (but not a real problem) The bed in the bedroom with the un suite was to low and big for the room, the post at the end, kept walking into and covered on bruises. A divan would work better. The swimming pool was small but warm and as booking a spot was perfect for a quick dip and not busy. The staff from reception to bar staff all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant had a limited menu but food was good and went to the extra help to accommodate our dietary needs. We hired a boat for 4 hours and this is a must the mist wonderful day and a great experience. Again could not fault it. All in all had the most relaxing, chilling four days. Just what we all needed.
Sue
We had the best relaxing holiday in barn owl lodge and we will definitely return again From the ladies that lunch xx
Karen
Lovely lodge with great views across the marse land.Had cows close by.Saw deers and different birds.Spacious lodge especially having a big doggie Nice and clean .Everything worked and was good having freezer separate to fridge so lots of space .Need to drive as there’s nothing much close by eg supermarkets ,restaurants.Nice walks over the marse land. You get a little boat that takes you across the water to get to the marsh land.
Christopher
We have a fabulous time, this is the second time we have stayed at Waveney (this time as a family) the lodge was clean and well equipped, the hot tub was a hit with the whole family, we also used the pool this time which was also clean and staff friendly. The only downside this stay was the pub wasn’t serving food we where looking forward to walking down for a evening meal and with having children this time I was disappointed with the play area
