We recently spent a weekend at Bulworthy Forest Lodges and honestly, it was just perfect for unwinding. The Woodpecker lodge was ideal for us, especially since it’s pet friendly - our dog loved the walks through the woods! We really enjoyed exploring the area during the day, then unwinding in the hot tub under the stars in the evening, which was just lovely. The lodge itself was spotless and well-equipped and we felt safe with all the COVID precautions in place. We’d definitely come back - can’t wait to visit again!

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It had all the essentials, so we only needed to bring ourselves. The beds were super comfy with nice cotton sheets and duvets. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the heating and lights were already on when we arrived on that chilly November evening. Definitely a lovely little getaway!

We had a really nice stay - the surroundings and accommodation were spot on. It was so peaceful and relaxing, we didn’t want to leave! The only tiny issue was the hot tub lights, but it didn’t ruin our trip at all. We’ll be back!

We had an absolutely lovely stay! Booking last minute, we were a bit worried, but the place exceeded our expectations. The lodge itself is charming, with a rustic vibe set in such a stunning location. We stayed in the Kingfisher cabin, which was really roomy, especially upstairs where the balcony overlooks the woods-perfect for morning coffee. The hot tub was a real treat after a day exploring. The only hiccup was the oven acting up and the downstairs TV not working, which was a bit tricky with the little ones, but the owners were fantastic-they took our food away, cooked it for us and had a new oven fitted by the next day. The surroundings are great for short walks, surrounded by forest, ideal for kids and just a quick drive to some of Devon’s lovely beaches. Oh and no WiFi or phone signal, which we actually enjoyed-disconnected for a bit is sometimes just what you need. We’re already planning to come back!

We spent three lovely nights here and honestly, we had a great time. The lodge was spotless and we couldn’t find a thing to complain about. Everything we needed was there - towels, cutlery, pots, pans - all sorted. The TV with Freeview was a nice touch, always good for a bit of downtime. The hot tub was kept impeccably clean and was topped up daily by the owner, who’s genuinely lovely and super welcoming. It’s about a 10-minute drive into Bideford and Tesco, so super handy. The surrounding woodl and offers some nice walks, perfect for walking our dogs. Would definitely recommend and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Lodge. It’s super spacious and spotless - honestly, it was like being in a br and-new place. The cosy vibe was perfect, especially on the rainy days. Sitting under the covered verandah watching the wildlife was just so relaxing. Definitely a place we’d come back to!

We recently stayed at a lovely little lodge just outside Bideford and honestly, it was just what we needed for a peaceful getaway. The location is perfect-only about 4 and a half miles from the town, so it’s easy to get to but still feels tucked away. The beds were super comfy and we had the best sleep we've had in ages. One of our favourite parts was sitting on the wooden porch in the evenings, listening to the birds sing-especially the robin that visited us daily. The woodland walk nearby was really enjoyable and if you’re into hot tubs, you’ll love theirs! We also appreciated the helpful information folder in the lodge, with tips on local attractions and the best routes out of the area-handy for navigating those narrow country roads. Speaking of directions, we found it easiest to input Horwood into the sat nav; coming from Eastleigh, turn right into the lane after the village, or from Lovecott, turn left. Just past the bend, there’s a signposted left that takes you directly to the lodges or use what three words if that’s easier. Liz really made us feel welcome-she was so friendly and went out of her way to connect us with a local boxing club since our son trains, as well as suggesting good running routes. We’d definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to come back if we visit the area again!

We had a lovely stay at The Hideaway with our dog, Max. The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The fishing was fantastic, especially catching a 13-pound carp - made the trip even more memorable! It’s a perfect spot to explore the local area, with nice trips to Clovelly, Westward Ho!, Appledore and Bideford. The staff were really friendly and helpful, which made us feel welcome. We've been several times now and plan to go back in September. It’s such a peaceful, tranquil place - we just love it. Can’t wait to return!

We had a fabulous time and would totally go again. The area is so so relaxing and peaceful and is close to beaches and shops (including a Tesco and Morrison's) which are around 15 minutes away by car. The only downside was my partner and his son were a little disappointed by the Carp fishing (although they spoke to the owner and she is aware the lakes need restocking).
Amanda
Bulworthy Forest is a beautiful peaceful setting, you truly are in the middle of a forest. We loved waking and hearing only birds & sheep and looking out at the beautiful surroundings. It is worth pointing out that the last approximately 2 miles to Bulworthy Forest is via very narrow lanes with high hedges or trees either side and probably not enough passing places. Also the site is quite steep so if you are above the lakes it is quite steep to walk. However we though this a price worth paying for the lovely accommodation and surroundings and would definitely book again.
Belinda
Fantastic just lacked a freezer. Great walks and friendly staff. Lots to do around and about. Good places to eat. Our dog really enjoyed the beaches near by
Jackie
The cabin itself was clean. Surroundings were extremely peaceful. We will definitely go again. Signal was pretty bad, so WiFi was quite sporadic, which seemed to worsen more each day. People were friendly and staff were welcoming. Would have been nice to have a welcome basket, with some basic essentials such as, milk, bread, butter and some cereals. So that you don't have to rush out and buy such things when you get there.
Joanne
Beautiful lodge. Lovely to come back to after a busy day sightseeing. Peaceful and serene. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!
Jo
Had a fabulous 4 nights in Larches for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We made good use of the hot tub and bbq. Lovely to sit on the enclosed porch with the dogs while they were on squirrel watch. Lovely peaceful location with some nice forest walks. If you need Internet access, Larches has really good connection. The owner is lovely; very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area; gave us some good tips on dog-friendly places to visit. Can't rate this place highly enough...bliss!
Amron
Bloody great location
Karen
The property was clean and had everything we needed. My husband enjoyed the fishing and it is certainly an away from it all break. The only slight negative is that the lodge is in a shaded spot with undergrowth up to the windows at the rear of the property.
