We absolutely loved this place! The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was a real highlight and the peaceful surroundings made it perfect for unwinding. Plenty of walks nearby too. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic weekend at this place! Everything we hoped for and more. The underfloor heating was a hit with our dogs, especially Luna, who was wagging her tail so much she strained it - poor girl! The garden was perfect for them to run around. Definitely planning to come back soon, it’s just such a lovely spot for both pups and us!

The laundry facilities are pretty decent, though it can be costly if you need to wash clothes. Overall, quite good, we’d return!>

We stayed here for a quick dog walking getaway and honestly, it was just what we needed. Lovely accommodation, nearby pubs and eateries and endless fields for off-road adventures. The dog didn’t want to leave either!

We had a lovely stay at this quiet little retreat, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. The surroundings are peaceful, with a forest nearby and minimal noise, which we really appreciated. We initially thought the internet might be patchy, but it was fine-just a bit slow, enough for Netflix on the laptop. The cabin is surprisingly well-stocked with everything you could need: pots, plates, cutlery, glasses, a kettle, toaster, microwave, electric stove and fridge. We brought towels but there’s fresh bedding and comfy beds inside. Just a heads up-bring your own towels! The host was really friendly and made us feel welcome. It’s a bit remote, so you’ll need a car to get around, especially to reach any attractions, which are about an hour away. There’s a handy book inside with all the info you need about the place and local spots. Definitely recommend for those who want peace and quiet!

We had such a lovely stay at this place! The location is really private and stunning, perfect for relaxing. The hosts were super friendly and always there if we needed anything, but still respecting our privacy. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling. One thing to keep in mind, the cottage is right under Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much once we got used to it, but it might be worth noting if you’re sensitive to noise. Overall, we loved it!

We stayed in the woodland cottage and honestly, we loved it! The place was spotless, really spacious and had everything we needed. The location was ideal for exploring the area. If you're after kids’ clubs or a pool, this isn’t the spot, but if peaceful nature is your thing, it’s perfect. The little pub nearby was a lovely bonus too.

We had a really lovely stay! Sharon and Robert were fantastic hosts, making us feel right at home from the get-go. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for our dog Archie - he loved the secure space. The location was just right, with loads of walks nearby and Thaxted plus the surrounding villages are absolutely charming. We definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed, which was just what we needed!

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and was super comfy. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming. Despite being on a working farm, it felt like a peaceful little escape. We loved it!

We loved our stay here! It's such a peaceful spot, perfect for a little escape. Sharon and Robert really go above and beyond to make you feel at home. We’ve been twice now and definitely plan to come back!

Date of stay: 1st November 2023
The location’s a bit out in the sticks, so don’t expect many nearby shops or cafes. We had to pay for the electric meter, but honestly, it didn’t use much, so it’s not a big deal. No WiFi, which actually made it a proper escape to unwind. The sofas are a bit past their best, not super comfy. The main bedroom was a tad tight, but the shower and facilities were spot on. The owner’s a really friendly bloke, very helpful. Overall, we enjoyed it and would recommend!

We stayed at this charming cottage and honestly, it had everything we needed - we didn't have to pack much at all! The owners, Sharon and Rob, really thought of everything, including little treats for our dogs and us. The welcome pack was full of useful info and the enclosed garden was perfect for the pups. The hot tub was a real highlight, so relaxing! Communication was quick and friendly whenever we had questions. Overall, a lovely place for a relaxing break and we’ll definitely return!

We stayed at this place recently and honestly, it’s a lovely spot. The house is super well equipped and kept us warm during that chilly December rain. The bath was just perfect and the shower was a good size. It’s on a flight path but we barely noticed, so don’t worry about that. Ideal if you’ve got dogs that hate fireworks - it’s so peaceful out here. Really beautiful conversion too. Thanks a lot!

Date of stay: 17th May 2023
We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage nestled on a busy farm, but surprisingly private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely charming and made us feel welcome. The place itself is really spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfy bed that we didn’t want to leave. The garden is perfect for dogs, totally secluded, with nice furniture for relaxing outside. Plenty of walks nearby and some great eateries in Thaxted-The Star and The Maypole are our favourites. Definitely recommend!

Date of stay: 28th July 2020
We really enjoyed our stay; the place was beautifully clean and super peaceful. The stunning surroundings made up for the small issues. However, we were a bit surprised to find no basic cooking essentials like salt, oil, or pepper. Also, paying extra for electricity was a bit of a letdown!
Emma, Gb
Date of stay: 25th July 2020

We absolutely loved our stay here! It’s the perfect escape from busy city life, with lovely fresh air and peaceful surroundings. The timber lodge is comfy, clean and fully equipped - just what we needed for a relaxing week. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Very good place for a relaxing holiday
Mark
Great place with a nice pub on site.
Tracey
Beautiful surroundings, very secluded, definitely need transport as most things and places about a 10/20 minute drive, would go again and would recommend Eastcott lodges to anyone.
Alison
We had a great time. Just make sure you bring things with you as it is a bit of a drive to places. The place is very clean but basic.
Leanne
Picturesque, quiet and calm! Just what you need in a break. Being able to drive and have a car essential for these lodges. We arrived to a clean, tidy and comfortable lodges in stunning surroundings. Lots to do within a 30 mile radius of the site if you drive. We had a relaxing break and will be going back. Dog friendly too, with a massive dog exercise field.
Stuart
We had seven very peaceful relaxing days at Eastcott lodges. The situation was ideal for exploring North Cornwall and North Devon. We stayed in the bungalow and because of its more isolated situation we were treated to some wonderful encounters with wildlife. They didn't seem to realise we were observing them, foxes, squirrels, hares and a wide number of different birds. Relaxing was superb with opportunities for reading, board games etc. Four adults had a great rest. James from the site was most helpful. Thank you.
Terry
Loved the place friendly and clean.
Kimberley
peaceful and very dog friendly
Sarah
What a lovely relaxing place this is. The lodges are well equipped, comfortable and roomy. Perfect for the quiet getaway, if you want a peaceful time. Not far away from the little town, which has plenty of cafes, shops, supermarkets etc, and a bakery. The site has a washroom for doing laundry ( bring plenty of £1 coins!)
Amanda
